Sophomore pitcher Dylan File struck out seven batters while only allowing one run on one hit over seven innings of work. Senior pitcher Jeremy Alderman earned his second save of the season after shutting down the Crusaders in the ninth. DSU Redshirt junior infielder Drew McLaughlin went including a solo homerun in the fouth inning. Things have been going pretty good for us, head coach Chris Pfatenhauer said. This years team is so new, we dont really have an identity yet, but we always fight hard. This years team is much better than previous years, said redshirt junior outfielder Trey Kamachi, an integrated studies major from Kapolei, Hawaii. The Yellowjackets quickly responded, however, as they tallied five runs in the fourth inning to take a 5 lead. It was a back and forth game from there until the Storm found themselves up 7 going into the top of the ninth. In that inning, the A rematch with the Crusaders saw sophomore pitcher Aaron Pope throw a two-h- it shutout through seven and a third innings, helping the Storm to a 0 win. McLaughlin and redshirt junior outfielder Jerome Hill II each homered in the matchup, helping the Storm to a 0 lead after five 8-- University. Junior pitcher Mason Hilty scattered three hits while striking out eight batters and allowed only one run over 5-- After scoring a run in the third inning, DSU recorded four runs in the fourth and two runs in the sixth. (PT) - Dixie State University mens basketball is in the midst of its longest winning streak of the season as the Storm continue to climb the ladder that is the Pacific West Conference standings. The Storm have won a conference-bes- t five straight games and now sit just one game behind Azusa Pacific University for the No. 1 seed in this years tournament. We knew this was a big stretch for us, head coach Jon Judkins said. We came into this week knowing that we have a chance to really make a move in the conference and we did just that. The Storm started the week out on the right foot, blowing out Academy of 8 Art Thursday night. DSU shot an unreal 70 percent from the field in the first half and nearly 64 percent in the game, the fourth best single-gam- e percentage in school history. Our ball movement and execution was awesome, Judkins said. We are playing really well on the offensive end right now and I think were doing it at just the right time. Both sophomore guard Trevor Hill and senior forward Mark Ogden Jr. stuffed the stat sheet in the win. Judkins said DSU came out sluggish against HNU and only led the 1 Hawks by seven at halftime.
