CBS gave Dixie State University the news back in the summer of 20 1 3 that the womens basketball game Saturday will be televised. CBS chose this game because of the level of competition and skill between the two teams, Athletic Director Jason CBS Boothe said. The Storm will face California Baptist University for the second time. The game will start at 10 a.m. It will be free to all who attend the game. We are very excited to showcase our facilities, our community and Dixie State, Boothe said. It is a tremendous opportunity, and I am not sure of any other PacWest team that has had the opportunity to do this. Boothe said the department is making an effort to put some activities together so it will be enticing for the students to come but nothing is confirmed yet. The department hopes to announce activities that Boothe is planning so it can start promoting the who attend the game will be given a breakfast bur-rito. He said it is tough getting people to come to the game because it is held in the morning. He said the department needs as much help as possible to spread the word. After the season finale March 1, the Storm will play in the PacWest tournament and will have a chance to make the NCAA tournament with a tournament championship. Dixie scored 10 runs on eight hits r. The sun shone on a beautiful Sunday afternoon when the catcher stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded. During the game against Hawaii Pacific University Sunday, DSU junior catcher Marla Reiter stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the second inning and hit the ball for a grand slam. The Red Storm played a doubleheader against Azusa Pacific University Saturday and split the games with the Cougars. The Storm also played a doubleheader against Hawaii Pacific Sunday and put up 10 runs in each of the early, which led to the win. Coming off seven straight losses, the team was determined to use the home field to an advantage, head coach Chris Pfatenhauer said. Montana only had four games under its belt prior to playing Dixie State, but it had six returning pitchers and six returning position players from last year. Pfatenhauer State-Billin- gs said the Yellowjackets put up a good fight in the 2013 season, but Dixie swept them anyway. He said this series looked a little more promising for DSU. Though the Storm had a rough start to the season, their record doesnt reflect how well the team has been playing. The past games have been a little tough, but they have been better than Writers Poll for its first series, followed by Colorado Mesa University, which is now 0 and ranked No. 8. I think we played very well and did what was expected of us, but we just couldnt get over that little hump that required the team to win, Kaplan 4-- said. Six of Dixies losses have come within a margin of two points. Pfatenhauer said the team played good defense, but the team didnt run the bases well. We are kind of known for being a pretty good g team, Pfatenhauer said. We just havent hit well enough base-runnin- yet. Pfatenhauer said the team hasnt been offensive enough.
