At a meeting on Dec. 9 that covered the upcoming DSCSA elections, Dean of Students Del Beatty said: The loudest voice at the table is always the student voice. The problem is that many times the student voice is never expressed. However, it takes more than the 2.5 grade point average requirement and the departmental recommendations for a student to represent his or her peers at the collegiate government level. Donna Stafford, who has been an employee at DSC for decades, decided that 2011 would be her last year serving the school. Ryan Mayfield, DSCSA vice president of public relations and a senior communication major from Taylorsville, said his experience working with Stafford during the time he was on student government was something he will always remember fondly. "Donna was an amazing adviser," Mayfield said. "She was like a mother to all of us," Mayfield said Staffords husband has been retired for a while, and Stafford had been thinking of doing the same for the last five years but always kept working. Mayfield said he believes this is mostly because of the close relationships she formed with her students.
