The emotions the paintings may stir are what inspired the title of the exhibit, Cieslewicz said. Some of them indicate a sense of place or memory or subconscious, she said. One of the artists in the exhibit, Janet Tenneson-McCartsaid her paintings are in response to nature. I paint the harmony I sense in nature, on-McCarty said. I want my paintings to give The artists were brought together in this exhibit because of their abilities in using color, Cieslewicz said. Theyre all very strong with color and content, Cieslewicz said. They all have something to say with their art. Cieslewicz said she had been familiar with the painters and their works for a long time and admires them for what goes into their paintings. These women are fulltime painters, she said. Because they have amazing experiences, (it) makes a difference in their works. Cieslewicz said part of the excitement lies in the the viewer of a feeling of spiritual elevation, the same way nature gives man this feeling of oneness, wholeness and belonging. Tenneson-McCart- y also said she considers herself a colorist and compares her painting to playing music. I love color, and painting to me is like playing beautiful music, she said. e The relationI in the use ships paintings are like musical notes. Ginny Northcott, another artist featured in the exhibit, said she isnt concerned with perfection in her artwork. Im somewhat indifferent not unappreciative but indifferent to the ideals of perfection, Northcott said. Instead, she focuses on adding vivid color to her work, which usually revolves around landscapes, abstract paintings and e works. I like to put (in) unusual things, paint things the color they arent, she Its a great opportunity to see art, she said. Its important to education to understand art. The Sears Gallery is a place for conversation and contemplation and a great place still-lif- color-shap- y, and I keep pushing myself to go further, she said. Cieslewicz said she is excited for the exhibit to open and for students to come. to relax. The Color of Consciousness exhibit is now open and runs until Jan. 27. The Sears Gallery is said. Its almost a dance concert because of the choreography as well as the acrobats, said Gail Bunker, the concert manager for the Celebrity Concert Series. They put a lot of athletic feat in it with some artistry in These art forms are popular in China to this day. Shirley Wei, a freshman general education major from Chongqing, China, has seen Chinese acrobats before and is planning on going to the concert on campus. I think its exciting, and its very funny sometimes, she said. I think they also have some risk because some action is very dangerous. But the people are very professional and brave. There is a chance for students to see these famous acrobats. They will be performing on Oct. 3 1 and Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m in the Cox Auditorium. Bunker said, If students would make the effort to come to these things, as well as Homecoming and the games and all that kind of stuff that the students go to, it would just make their educational experience so much greater. The Golden Dragon Acrobats are part of the celebrity concert series sponsored by DSC and Clarion Suites.
