"For tryouts they ask you to sing 16 bars of a song," Smith said. "If they need to hear you sing another song theyll ask you to sing another one or youll come to call backs later... But for the most part they make it really fun so youre not nervous or anything. Smith said she loves to perform at Tuacahn. Smith said: We perform and entertain people, and provide a place for family to come and spend time together-t- o get away from the world. The little kids, when they come up after the show and are all excited to see the characters. It makes it worth it. Alexis Smith, Kayla Smith's sister and fellow actress, also loves performing. Kayla and I have grown up dancing and it was always our artistic outlet, so its a way for us to show emotion," Alexis Smith said. "Its also fun to create characters on stage. It grows and becomes something really cool. Its really will most likely be held after Thanksgiving. This is the first standard musical Ive directed in a long time, Davenport said. I am not interested in doing the same show every high school and community theater does. It is set in a traditional society in transition yearning for the good old days. It is a relevant storyline with issues we can relate to today. Fiddler on the Roof takes place in a traditional Jewish settlement in Russia, which is changing due to the Russian Revolution. I am most excited for Fiddler because I like the characters, and I am excited to act again, said Koby Campbell, a junior theater major from Price. I seem to always be getting hurt, and Id dience and have them appreciate what youre doing." Kayla Smith's two siblings, Tino Smith and Alexis Smith, also participate in the Tuacahn productions. Its nice because we go into shows not knowing other people, so its nice to have that security of knowing two other people, Alexis Smith said. I really love having that energy of us being on stage. Even though Tuac-ahn- s seasons are considered to run during the summer, the schedule spills into October. Once school starts, juggling the schedule of shows and school would seem difficult for Kayla Smith to keep up, but she does a good job managing her time. She does it really well," Alexis Smith said. "Its fine in the summer, and she has her days, but. ..she has the thing when performances start. She gets through it and does really well. Kayla Smith originated going to Southern Utah University but came to DSC because of her acting schedule. It like to learn how to fix myself, Kayla Smith said. Injured or not the show must go on for Kayla Smith. She will continue with her packed schedule until the end of October. Until then, you can see Kayla Smith nightly playing in the ensemble or one of her understudy roles every night at Tuacahn Center for the Arts. Kayla Smith, a senior sports medicine major from Beaver Falls, Pa., prepares for a performance of Grease in the Tuacahn Center for the Arts dressing room. Smith has participated in six shows at Tuacahn, including Thriller, Tarzan and Crazy for You. Because, lo and behold, invader Zym is searching for pieces of an ancient mask that will make and it just him so happened that the last piece was in Conans vilworld-dominati- lage. Did I mention invader Zym has a daughter, and shes a witch? Rose McGowan as witch daughter Marique was the only element of this movie I liked. And thats saying something for the film because even her acting was below par. Maybe its because I loved her in Jawbreaker and subsequently everything else shes done has been gold to me. Dont see Conan. It was a waste of my money, and itll most likely be a waste of yours. And thats coming from a person who tries to see every movie for what it is and enjoy it anyway. I was leery at first because I didnt think anyone could successfully take the place of Roddy McDowall. But Tennant pulled it off. Fright Night takes no time cutting to the chase. Literally. In no time at all the audience is witnessing Charlie, his girlfriend and Mom being chased down (the original Jerry) during a minivan chase scene in the desert outside Las Vegas. I loved this movie. Im accepting Fright Nights friend request, and Im going to suggest it to all my other Facebook friends. Bravo! of a bloody battle, thats not the most nd no, sgusting thing in the ovie.
