Some other places in town focus on a family environment instead of taste, or they are very focused on being healthy or going green, and we are more the place to hang out and have a good yogurt. Indeed it did seem like the perfect place to hang out, since I was there enjoying the company, the fim atmosphere and the cup of cold heaven for nearly an entire hour. The tart zip of the Dolewhip gave me a perfect combination with tire sweet taste of the Georgia peach. Everything is charged at .38 an ounce and the cup is put on a scale to weigh. The cup is taken out of the total, so if you were to set an empty cup on the scale, it would come up as negative. My fight for the perfect size was put to rest when I was finally given the option to take as much as I wanted. The Dixie State College Career Center and Testing Center offer aptitude tests to help students narrow their interests of career choices. The two centers on campus offer different tests created by scholars to help individuals choose a career. Career Center Director Kathy Kinney and other staff members of the career center counsel work with students to help them decide which career path or direction is tire best for that particular student. To assist in this process die career center offers free career or personality surveys to start a stu dent in a particular career direction. The surveys are The Keirsey Temperament Sorter or the Holland Code." I believe that people really know what they want to do, theyre just afraid to make that step and sometimes its a very large step, Kinney said. Some Freshmen Year Ex- perience professors are requiring their students to take the Keirsey or Holland survey to help them decide which direction to choose for a career. Ryan Mayfield, a sophomore undecided major from Taylorsville, works at the career center and said every day somebody comes in to take a career survey. May-fiel- d has taken die Keirsey survey but has not evaluated his results yet. He said: I have no idea what it will say. I think a lot of times you diink you are something else and it helps you look in the mirror a little bit. I want to be this way, but I really do this.'" Misty Mann, a junior secondary education major from St. Geoigc, said she has taken a few career surveys in die past but is not sure how accurate they really are. She said: I diink some are better dian otiicrs, but there is nodiing concrete about it. It is kind of like a fortune teller Karl Hutchings, director of p education, said the personality or career survey should be combined with the students desires and passions to get die most accurate outcome possible. Hutchings said he is not sold on die idea of die survey. He also said die survey should not stand alone. co-o- see TESTS page 10 |
