DSC will by Jade Bytheway Dixie Sun Staff Writer The Rebel soccer team is again heading to the NJCAA national soccer tournament They sealed a berth in the national tournament Saturday mght after taking a win over Cisco Junior College (Texas) in the District 8 championship game held in Hansen Stadium. 6-- 0 Were all excited, coach Linda Huddleston said. Its been our goal all season to make it back to the nationals" The Rebels will now travel to St. Louis next week for the national tournament and another shot at a national championship. Last year the Rebels made it to the championship game, but came out just short and had to settle for the second place trophy. The year prior, in 2000, the Rebels walked away with the national championship in hand. This year, they know they wont settle for anything less than number one. With a muddy field and pounding thunder, the game was postponed for 30 minutes before the Rebels were able to take the field and dominate. Out of the six goals that were scored, five players went on the stat sheet. Nicole Smith knocked in two goals, and Lacy Gustaveson, Amy Gustaveson, Sarah Lake, and Jami Muna all added one a piece. Dixie also beat Palomar 5 on Friday, as Hall scored 18 71-4- points and Harbut had 17.
