PAGE 8 Visit our newly web site: http:sun.dixie.edu A cotton candy power luncheon took place as freshmen Dixie College students redeemed their right to the sweet stuff Monday in front of the library. Who were those strangers with candy, and what was the cause? The effort to get student freshmen more involved in school activities was headed by Justin Cherry, freshmen class representative. The cotton candy giveaway went tremdously well, said Cherry. We expect to have a good turnout for all the events throughout the rest of the week. There is no activity Wednesday, but Thursday evening is movie night. The movie will be showing outdoors in front of the Graff Fine Arts building. The movie title has nor been disclosed, but it will start at 7 p.m. On Friday, there will be The Exec. Council spins cotton candy for students Monday, Jan. 24, in celebration of freshmen week, which continues through Friday. a tailgate party at 5 p.m. outside the Bums Arena before the Lady Rebels basketball team squares off against Southern Idaho. Students can enjoy food, treats and music outside before the game, said Becca Lish, who is on Cherrys committee. Saturdays stomp will round out freshmen week. The dance will be held from 10 p.m. to . At the end of fall semester, KBYU, (a Public Broadcasting Station located on the Brigham Young University campus in Provo, Utah) was contracted to broadcast the kickboxingboxing event. It was originally supposed to be held in Las Vegas, however the Nevada Gaming Board wouldnt sanction it, so it was moved to St. George. Finding a camera crew that could handle the job was also another obstacle for the event. After contacting all the television stations in Southern Utah, they were referred to Everett. There are not a lot of online productions companies that can work on a shoot like this, explained Everett. So the college gladly jumped on board. Eight Dixie College students, Mike Durrant, David Lefler, Will Bowen, Nathan Stjosh Everett, Ben Tanner, Ken Vasquez and Joe West tackled this shoot. They worked continuously from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and according to Everett, the cheif engineer said hed never seen college kids who could set up and shoot like the pros.
