We must have gone wrong somewhere since we are editors, but it has been a memorable and adventurous two years. In the first year alone we had the opportunity to cover such thrilling events as the Senior World Games with guest speaker Karl Malone, the football team winning the Rotary Bowl, the volleyball team going to Regionals, the women's basketball team set a new record for wins in a season, the men's team barely losing in the final region game to Ricks, and the baseball team finishing eighth in the nation at the Junior College team is living true to their reputation of winning, with a second place rank in the nation a and World Series. We were rookies thrown out into the field of collegiate Journalism, unable to imagine the responsibility and work it took to be editors. With tire help of other editors, our advisor, and tire Athletic Department, we began our quest for higher quality sports w reporting. Just thinking of the first year makes us tired, but it fails in comparison to the excitement of this year. Take it from the top.... Courtney had never covered football so I'm sure it was an adjustment for readers to see a female writing football articles, plus they beat Snow at Snow. With a first year coach, tine women's soccer team took their talent all the way to Nationals in Baltimore, Ma. The volleyball squad had a rough but successful season and lost Head Coach Dave Johnston at the conclusion of their season. The winter sports season at Dixie College was a sports writers dream. The women's basketball team went all the way to the Region tournament losing in the but again set a new record for wins in a season, with an overall record of 26-also winning the Scenic West Athletic Conference for the first time ever. Head Coach Dave LaVetter was also named the Coaches' Coach of the Year. The men's basketball team couldn't have asked for a better season. They made semi-final- s, 6, history attending the National Junior College Basketball Championships in Hutchinson, KS. This dynamic team completed a season with 27 wins and nine losses, finishing sixth in the nation. Maurice Baker was the Most Valuable Player of the SWAC and Head Coach Jeff Kidder was the Region 18 Coach of the Year. James "Rudy" Williams was named to the team at the National Tournament. Springing into our final semester, the women's softball team, under the direction of first year coach Amy Patterson, has thus far had a successful season. The baseball Two-Year- gotten. To the volleyball team, we hope that you and your new coach will find much success in the upcoming season. To the women's basketball team, players be patient with Coach La Vetter and his motto, "WIN," because that is all he will say. Good luck in the next year's season to break the record one more time. To men's basketball team, thank you for an unforgettable trip to "HUTCH!" Although this year's sophomores are leaving, Tane will still be around to get all the ladies, and to take your frustrations out on. We leave you with one little thought for next year....DOWN WITH INDIAN HILLS! A word of warning. Coach Kidder hates it when "ya'all" are lethargic with that "dag'gum ball." To the softball team, a great tan with a positive season full of raspberries, homers, and memories. To the baseball team, another trip to Grand Junction, and whatever it takes to reach 100 home runs this season. Good luck to all those "Wolfpackers" that are continuing either to a Division One school, or being put into the draft. I (Courtney), have never had so much fun in the past two years, as I have had here at Dixie. I am so sad to leave this place, because the bonds that I have created with the coaches and players will never be for because girl you will need it! Loren thanks for everything have you done for me these last two years, you will never be forgotten. Lord what can I say sweetie, you are a life saver! You have been there when I needed you and I will never forget you. Our trip to "HUTCH" what can I say, I have never had so much fun; staying up till nine the next morning, jumping on the bed, and even the sounds of the ocean. These are memories we will have forever, I love ya Lon your the best. Again thank you DDQE!! I (Lord) will have to agree with my colleague. The last two years of my life at Dixie College have been packed with memories, definitely treasures I. will always cherish. Writing for the Dixie Sun has been a learning experience. I will miss the rapport and friendships I have gained with coaches, players, students, teachers, and administrators at Dixie College. Loren Webb has been more than an advisor but become a friend as well. To the Sun staff, past and present, it has been a pleasure. No one will ever know or comprehend the time, stress, and dedication my Courtney has put in this paper. She always picks up the slack and has become a lifelong friend. I consider it a privilege to have been an editor for the past two years for an outstanding publication. I appreciate the opportunity I have had to report on thrilling games, intriguing players, outstanding coaches, and exciting seasons for an awesome school. Thank you, good luck, and as always...
