By Jennie Squire Lets tack "The Graperjennie58hotmail. com fruit"justand "The Carbo" It's a proven fact that diets diet on for good measure. How ironic that there seems to be a usually fail. So why does everyone decide to diet? Well, maybe because it's swimsuit season, they decide the pleasure over physical features outweighs the importance of food. This is a growing problem. Once the sun enters our life and the water warms up, then drastic diet measures enter, and who is to say what's good and what's bad if it works. A growing craze is the "phenomenal protein diet." All I have to say is where are the breads and pastas that trend of recyclmg these diets after it has failed for others. Why do we do this to ourselves? Another funny quirk is the fact that no matter how many n drugs come out on the market, once people stop taking the drug, the weight either Fen-Phe- food. Sherwood jeromeml2hotmail.com By Mike In a person's life, there comes a time when they must have their first experience with a wonderful substance known as meat. I lost my meat virginity at a very young age. Some may consider the fall into the abysmal world of carnivorous life a bad one but for me it seemed natural. I can remember savoring every shred of the luscious red meat my parents fed to me. I know you may be thinking, why? Why would two people lead their child into a life of such decadence. I tend to believe that it was not a degradation of my families values but a shift in the values of society in general. In the days when my grandparents roamed the earth, there were no such organizations such as People for the Ethical Treatments of Animals (PETA) or Greenpeace to tell me, and dead meat lovers everywhere, that such behavior is wrong. It is amazing, that when pure moralistic arguments fail to force me to suc-p'- '. cumb to the vegan-they lifestyle, enlist the help of the medical conprofession to tell me to form. For years three square meals meant getting a hearty portion of meat for every meal. There were four food groups, of which meat was an important part. Now, as a part of their talk to, everyone's body is different and reacts differently to different types of food. So how do you determine what's good and bad? Just a note of advice, don't go on a diet. Just exercise and eat healthy. Learn what foods your body works well with. Most of the time people find it's not the double-ore- o cream cake that they inhale. Look at the things you like and decide which ones are healthy You wouldn't for your body. use twinkies to wax you kitchen floor, so don't use them in your body. Choose a good balance of comes back on, or they've found another substitute drug to take its place. It seems that our bodies always tend to go back to the flabby fat that we want to liposuction away. What's my solution to this problem? No matter who you insidious plot, they have changed the rules. We must learn about a pyramid, which would be fine if I were Egyptian. Even worse than introducing the pyramid is, that upon further inspec U tion, one discovers that there is no longer a meat group but a protein group. To further the plot they have made this protein group a very small part of the pyramid. These people, who call themselves doctors, have also started spreading rumors about the "dangers" of meat. Bandying about words like heart disease and high cholesterol, these doctors plan to use scare tactics to bring people into I, for one, compliance. won't stand for it. I am making a stand. I am receiving vindication, though, I am starting to hear rumors of a new protein diet. It is a diet which I have been living for virtually all of my life. The way I understand the diet is that a person consumes nothing but protein. It was a long time in coming but I knew that society would someday decide that I was a healthy, conforming individual set to go places; like that new steak joint over on main street.
