Softball ends positive seasoi.. By Loni Johnston Sports Editor The Dixie College women's softball team ended their season on a high note although they are out of the regional tournament. Dixie played Rick's and lost in the first o round of competition last Friday. They came back to beat Snow College but took their final loss on Saturday against Utah Valley State College Against Ricks, the team held their own for the first four innings, allowing only one run and they "played real well," head coach Dave Johnston said. But the sixth inning told the tale when Ricks rallied to victory. Freshman Wendy Haramoto went 2 for 3 at bat against Ricks. Teammates Pat Ebert, Krista Lambert, Amy Jensen, and Robin Lusby were each 1 for 3 from the plate. Sophomore Stacee Ainsworth took the loss for the Rebels but according to Johnston, pitched pretty good. In the second game on Friday against Snow, the Lady Rebs showed up to play and Badgers were nowhere to be found. Haramoto's first at bat scored an home run on a bunt. Becca Erikson was 2 for 4 with three and Joni Bardsely came away with the pitching win. Lorey Bunce was 1 for 1, and Lusby went 1 for 2. "We scored when we had a chance," Johnston said. "They made some costly errors." On Saturday, the Rebels faced Utah Valley in what would be the final game of the Rebel season. Ebert batted a perfect 2 for 2, Lusby 1 for 2, and Bardsley went 1 for 2. The team ended the year with a record of the first winning record in the history of Dixie College and the first win for Dixie in the regional tournament. "Our goal was to get to regionals and we did that," Bardsley said. Bardsley will hopefully be returning to play at Dixie next year and ended her season with a record of 13-6-- 6-- 4, 9-- 1. . x. runs-batted-- in 23-2- 1, 9.
