This means it is rodeo season in the wild west, and the Dixie College Rodeo Ifeam is ready to rope, ride, and win. The rodeo season consists of ten rodeos per year, two during the fall quarter, three in winter quarter and five during the spring quarter. Dixie College belongs to the Rocky Mountain Region which includes schools from Utah, Nevada, and Idaho. On the collegiate level, there is no separation between junior colleges and universities. Everyone competes against each other no matter what school they are from. Contestants compete throughout the season and the top three in each region, in each event, qualify for the national college finals to be held in Rapid City, S.D. At each rodeo, everyone gets one run, the top ten people in each event qualify for the second The person with the best average after two runs is named champion for that weekend and wins the prize money. On Feb, 2 three members of the team traveled to Elko, Nev. to compete. Jesse Sheffield came back a winner taking first place in team roping with partner IR. Crazier and second in the calf roping. Sheffield is a freshman and was an 21-2- accomplished School Rodeo Association. Advisor of the team Jim Cox, also expects the team to do well this year. He said that the teams strength this particular year is in the timed events.
