The game will pah-twof the NFLs premier quarterbacks. The Packers Brett Favre, who threw for 3,867 yards and a leagueleading 35 touchdowns, and Denvers John Elway, who also put up some impressive numbers, passing for 3,635 yards and 27 touchdowns. The question is: Can John Elway lead his Broncos to a Super Bowl win? When you match up these teams statistically according to what they did in the regular season, Denver has the edge. The Broncos lead in net yards per game with an average of 374 2, while the Packers had 347.8. In rushing, Denver had an average of 158.7 per game, thanks to 'Iferrell Davis, who rushed for 1,750 yards and had 15 touchdowns while Green Bay had a decent 115.8. On the other side of the ball, Denver only allowed 282.2 yards per game while Green Bay allowed 320.7 yards per game. Denver also does a great job of not turning the ball over as they only allowed 16 turnovers Fill year while Green Bay turned the ball over 25 times. Of course, everything that these two teams did in the season doesnt really mean too much except for the fact that one team is from the National Football Conference - the Packers while the others from the American Football Conference - the Broncos. The NFC team has won the last 15 of the 16 Super Bowls and 13 in a row. So, of course, the Green Bay Packers are favored by nearly two touchdowns as they try to extend the streak to 14. If the Broncos want to win it all and change history, they will need to look past the adversity and do what they have been doing all year long. The Broncos offensive line will need to give Elway time to find his receivers and not allow him to get sacked, as they gave up 32 sacks on the year. The line will also need to block and make holes for Davis to do his thing; Denver will need at least a 100 yard game out of him. Defensively, the Broncos will need to bktz Favre and make him hurry his throws. Denver shouldnt have a problem stopping Green Bays average running game. If Denver does these things and continues to play football the way they can, then the streak may be broken. |
