Show January 14, 1997 The Dixie Sun Page 3 Winter Quarter Blues Trial Reset Author visits Dixie Tyler's Thoughts Tyler Thors ted any of us who have been to a couple of years For college, understand that winter quarter can be one of the most difficult to get through. It is the middle of quarter, the fun and excitement has kind of wore off, the most part it drag on and on. I think a lot of students get burnt out and decide not to come back to school because of this phenomenon. More students left the dorm's this quarter then came, so there isn't a lot of new faces winter and for seems to quarter. We are a small school in comparison, but we are growing beyond belief. One poll I saw showed we had more students enrolled at Dixie then they had at Southern Utah University in Cedar City. Obviously the word is out that Dixie is one of the finest schools in Utah. Students that have graduated from here are going home and telling others how much fun it was to attend Dixie College. This is where I make my point. We need to get involved in the activities and other events sponsored by this school. Winter quarter needs to be just as fun as any other. We need to beat the norm and make winter quarter fun and full of spirit. By JEREMY RAMPTON St. George - The retrial of former Dixie College basketball player Winford "Eggie" McRae, originally set for Jan. 17, has been postponed. McRae, 22, is charged with aggravated kidnapping and two countsof forcible sexual abuse and burglary in connection with alleged incidents reported to law enforcement officers in early 1996. Charges against McRae were filed on April 18, 1996. A retrial date will be set when a prosecutor is selected. The Washington County Attorney's office was disqualified last week by 5th District Judge James Shumate. A Sept. 26 trial was declared a mistrial because prosecutors did not share the names of potential witnesses with the defense.
