Show Red Ribbon Week shows drugs not needed by campus Last week's Red Ribbon Week activities were a great success. The organizers of the activities proved their point in showing that students can have a good time without the use of drugs. The many activities throughout the week were well attended and everyone in attendance seemed to be having a good time. The several activities including the h National Guard climbing wall, the live band Front, the karaoke machine and the free drinks and popcorn were all a lot of fun for those who participated. Many students definitely got the message that they don't need drugs to have fun. The use of drugs is an unnecessary activity with absolutely no benefits. Studies have proven that drugs can kill and ruin lives. They may provide a temporary artificial high, but the side effects are drastic. Red Ribbon Week showed students that they can have a natural high without the use of drugs by being involved in such activities as rock climbing and karaoke singing. The high success of the Red Ribbon Week activities can be attributed to the well organized planning that went into the activities of the week. The Reach club did an excellent job in planning the activities at strategic times and places that would attract many students to attend and participate. The climbing wall on the L.A. lawn was a curious attraction that lured many students to the Blis-Tec- party where they could mingle and have a fun time with other students who realize that there is absolutely no need to use drugs. The excellent planning and organization that went into the Ribbon Days activities should be a model for other organizations to follow in the future when planning campus activities. It is a fact, the more well organized an activity is, the more attended and successful it will be. The combination of fun activities, excellent planning and a well chosen time and location will virtually ensure the success of the activities. drug-fre- e The opinions expressed above represent the collective voice of the Dixie Sun editorial board. Editor, As I stated to you, we (the food services) have so few students that eat on Sundays that we would be using poor business judgement to run a crew the extra hours you are requesting. The main part of my objec- tion was your description that students get depressed, violent and develop eating disorders because they can't eat all day long on Sundays. I also object to your reasoning that they are being forced to shop on Sundays. If you doubt this, just ask around What did you think of the Red Ribbon Week activities? Tawnya Boss, 19, d sophomore, major, Ogden, Utah: "I think they were good. It gives people a chance to realize how important it is to stav off of drugs and alcohol. It also made people aware that these are problems." pre-me- A The Sun unfair does so that they don't have to go to the store on Sunday. I strongly objected to the interviews at the bottom because they were all negative. Surely, you could have put just one positive comment on just for good will's sake. You and your staff hide behind the term "opinion" and say that it is okay to say negative and denigrating things about the Food Service. When I read a newspaper, I want to read facts. I would like to see positive sides to the issues also. You attack with your "opinions" when there is no way to show our side at the same time. I say that this is an unfair practice.
