Prior to the appointments. Heap promised decisions would be made on the basis of merit and not friendship. Hall and Heap posted the results May 3 outside the student government room in the Student Center. Eighteen women and one man applied for eight positions on the council. Executive Secretary Liz Gunderson will be in charge of agendas and minutes for meetings, ASDC finances and the ASDC scrapbook. Student Advocate Wendy Elmer will be in charge of the ombudsman, the student constitution, the student representative and cultural sions and committees. al divi- Activities Vice President Hillary Smith will take charge of activities, chair the activity board and the planning committee, and layout the student handbook. Service Vice President Cortney Haslem will be in charge of service profund raisjects, the service group ers and finals survival kits. Organization Vice President, Nikki Clayton will be in charge of I.C.C., fee allocation, the planning committee, and book exchange. Xela Jones, responsible for general activities, will be in charge of Thursday Night Live, dances, talent shows, marquees and Welcome Week. Gretchen Tueller, special activities chair, will be in charge of Homecoming, Men's Week, World Week, and dance dates. Women's activities chair Julie Oyler will be in charge of Mother's Weekend, Preference, Sadie Hawkins, and Safety Week. Students of the Quarter for Winter By AMANDA TAGGART O.C. Tanner Summer Concert Series: Dixie College Chamber and Concert Choirs, 8 p.m., O.C. Tanner Amphitheater, Springdale Graduation Countdown: 20 days Shane Wright, ASDC vice president, announced the winter Students of the Quarter as Cami Bailey, Ryan Merrill, Darrin Shamo and Scott Tobler. Bailey was recognized for marketing and fashion; Merrill for drafting; Shamo for human physiology; and Tobler for Chemistry 232. Questionnaires are sent to each of the college's seven departments. Teachers in each department collaborate to choose an outstanding student in each division. Only four divisions returned questionnaires for winter quarter. As a result, only four students of the quarter were chosen, rather than the maximum of seven. Students receiving the distinction were invited to a luncheon and presented with a certificate of recognition for their work. A reception honoring retiring professor Robert Dalton will precede Friday's evening's concert featuring bass soloist Aaron Dalton. The reception begins at 6:30 in the Browning Building, with the concert at p.m. in the Dunford Auditorium. Our own Dixie Rebels baseball team will host the Region 18 tournament this week at Bruce Hurst Field, right here on our campus. We all have classes to attend and homework to do, but lets get out there and cheer on our Dixie Rebels, too. Dixie baseball means so much to our campus. Be a part of it by lending your support to the Rebs this week!
