According to Greg Thayn, BLM Wilderness Specialist, submission of these reports marks the end to one of the longest running and most intensive land-us- e planning efforts in the history of Utah. "ELM'S wilderness review was comprised of an Inventory Phase conducted between 1978 and 1984, a Study Phase completed with publication of the Utah BLM statewide final Environmental Impact Statement in 1990 and a reporting phase which culminated with the preparation of the WSRs. Initially, our inventory addressed all 22 million acres of lands in Ihestate. Ofthe22millionacres,3.2 million were intensively analyzed, unit by unit, over the past period. In the end, the BLM and the $1,000 scholarship is offered, to incoming freshmen students in the field of computer lite- being chosen from St. George and one from each of the following counties: Washington, One recipient will be racy Iron, Grafield, Kane and Sevier, TEACHING tuition and fees paid, available to students who are planning on being a teacher in the stale of Utah.
