Dear Sir, A disproportionate number of Dixie College students are liars, cheats, offensive, ingrates and possibly even illiterates. Our teachers seem almost pathetically inclined to be helpful-somight la awake nights devising ways to propel students to success. At most schools in my experience the faculty doesnt acknowledge there are students cluttering the campus-- at least not freshman and sophmores. How do Dixie students respond to this interest? Some lie, claiming to be students but not studying. Some cheat themselves out of a learning experience. The common rowdy and immature classroom behavior is an offense to teachers and fellow students. Possibly the perpetrators consider classes an interruption in their busy schedules? Isnt this ingratitude for the time and money that the instructors, parents, various political subdivisions and they themselves have invested? Some students seem reluctant or even unable to read the expensive texts they (or their parents) have! purchased. Why cant we be proud of attending Dixie-F- or more than a dynamite football team? Could we dig in, be students and demand excellence in education? It isnt too Herculean a task to change If two students in each class demand and preform to tough standards the teachers can respond with more challenging assignments, instead of endlessly repeating themselves to those occasionally attending class or lowering standards to the point of meaningless to avoid flunking the whole class So lets demand and receive the education we are paying and sacrificing for, and that the teachers seem so willing to dispense.
