Show o Dixie College, St. George, Utah 84770 Friday, January 14, 1983 VOLUME XVI - Number 6 Achieve ent Awards Presented to Dixie Students 11 r Recipients of Outstanding Achievement Awards pictured above are: Edward Davis, Montrue Larkin, Josephina Navarete, and Vivien Silvenia. Outstanding achievement awards were presented Tuesday, to eight Dixie College students who have shown enthusiasm and commitment to their educational goals. They were presented with certificates, representing their achievement, by College President Alton Wade and Dr. Peter Nyberg, Vice President for Instructional Services. According to Paul Reber, vice president of the student executive council, the awards will be presented all three quarters during this school year. The individuals are chosen from a list submitted by each college faculty member to the Division Deans, who in turn make the final selection. Some of the criteria used by the faculty members to choose the Preference Dance Scheduled Girls, its preference time, so get your favorite man and come and boogie at the Institute on January 29th. The Preference Dance will start at 9:00 p.m. and end at 12:00 midnight. Preference is a formal dance and flowers are in order. Nice suits are acceptable for guys to wear. Picture and dance tickets will go on sale at the bookstore on January 24th, and they will be $5.00 each. This years theme is Me and My Guy. The band, Lightyear, will be performing. A short floor show has been planned. Voting for the Most Preferred categories will be done two days before the dance. Chairman Denise Nickell, along with her committee have been working super hard, and everything is almost ready. Members of the committee are: Barbara Fowler, Cheryl Garff, Lanette Gregory, Lollie Lyman, Diane Poulsen, Bettina Rasmussen, Lisa Roberts, Rachel Roberts, Elaine Rogers, Brenda Schmidt, and Marilyn Syphus. , , , Emdie Shumway, Brent Hunt, Joni Jones, and John K. Ayers, also received the Outstandmg Achievement Awards. recommended they include, excellent class participation; special projects assignments and labs; extra mile activities; high test scores; the number of quarter hours taken each quarter and outstanding anything that relates to students the class.
