Show Page 4 - DIXIE SUN - January 25, 1980 Mother's Weekend coming in May; Applications needed now by Mary Kaye Kuhimann Mothers weekend is coming up sooner than you think. To be held May and 3, the weekend, which needs planning right now, will be filled with or anything else mothers and banquets, picnics, workshops, bridal fairs, daughters can do together. 2 For you freshmen who have never experienced Mothers Weekend, it is one of the years highlights. All of the mothers of the girls on campus are invited to come and stay with them for a weekend ; usually over 200 mothers come. The Mothers Weekend Committee is being organized now, so if you want to be involved, now is your chance. The combined committees usually consist of girls, so much help is needed. Committees will operate for publicity, workshops or any of the other activities to be planned. 75-8- 0 Applications for committees are included in the newspaper, so cut it out, and leave it at Kathleen Popes office in the SUB before February 6. fill it in, as many tournaments, In their third clean-u- p job for the Dixie Rebel forensic squad pose after liberating several trophies from the Utah JC Classic at Snow. Forensics squad dominates meet-aga- in ! t J Dixies forensics team coasted to their third sweep of their last three tournaments by beating teams from College of Eastern Utah and Snow College in last Saturdays Utah JC Forensic Classic at Snow College. MOTHERS WEEKEND COMMITTEE APPLICATION Name Address Phone The Rebel speakers finished with 113 points to CEUs 88 and Snows 25. No sweepstakes trophy was awarded; had one been, the above results would have determined the winner. Peggy Webster led Dixies squad with four first place finishes, two seconds, and a third place. She was also awarded the meets outstanding speaker award. Freshman j Sophomore General Chairman Duane Tuft tied for second place in the outstanding speaker award with John Egan of CEU. Tuft captured two first places and a second. J Other first place winners from Dixie were Lynette Neilsen in debate and Mary Tuft in Duet Acting. In all, Dixie captured eight first place trophies, see seven second place trophies and one third place finish. This gives Dixie a total of 46 trophies so far this year, with less than half of the competitions being finished.
