"Off the Cuff will replace From the Editors Desk as a regular column. Through it, I will share my views and criticisms about issues and policies here at Dixie College. As Editor, I feel it my duty to speak up when things are rotten in Den- mark. I think it will always be the role of the press to keep tabs on government, in our case, the Administration and the studentbody officers. I dont mean Ill be watching over their shoulder, viewing every move to criticize and destroy. I just want to publish the decisions and policies made in our behalf. If I disagree, Ill let them know about it here. Im not much of a rebel, but I do speak out when things are done that I dislike. A newspaper is also the voice of the people which it serves. The DIXIE SUN will always be the voice of the students it serves. If there are policies that you dont like, let it be known in a letter to the editor. As a readership, you need to use this medium as a way to voice your opinion. Complete coverage of campus activities would be ideal. However, the ideal is seldom realized. As editor, I want to publicize events that concern Dixie students. Articles relating to students and their interests will have precedence in this paper. This, I feel, is being a voice of the Dixie studentbody. This is also an educational newspaper. I am learning how to edit and manage a By Jim Olsen newspaper. Even if I don't become a journalist, it will be a great education. My staff and I are learning to express ourselves properly in print. It is also a lesson in discipline The paper is laid out with student help. They are learning layout designs and ideas. It is also printed by students who want to leam how to operate the press. Advertisements are obtained by students soliciting the local businesses. All this is done to help us receive an education in the field of our . choice. to extend the received from the newspaper. I hope to publish articles to help to improve study habits and help you to be a better I want education Freshman Diane Pruhs, Salt Lake City, represented Dixi College in the Beauty parade during the Dixie Roundu Saturday, September 17th.
