Show Page 6 THE DIXIE SUN letters Dear Sirs: In reference to the editorial printed in the Homecoming edition of the Dixie Sun, dated October 22, 1970, a slur was leveled against Senator Frank E. Moss which questioned his honesty, integrity, and enthusiasm. He has served for the past twelve years in the honorable position as Senator. As students of Dixie College we feel that it is unfortunate that the school paper should print such unfounded slander. We also feel that it would appropriate that only be should those responsible make written apology to Senator Moss, the studentbody and the Alumni. It should only be fair that when a political view is expressed, an opposing view also be expressed. should Bob Olsen Crucible to Play A great cast, working under the direction of Paul Anderson is actively working on the production, The Mr. Andersons Crucible. remarks about the tryouts were, Casting was difficult, primarily because talent was so evident. There was a great attendance, and if this spirit keeps up, the club will prove to have a great year. The officers were elected as follows: Van Potter President: V. Pres: Danny Seymour Secretary: Ann Marie Scott Reporters: Lynn Bradshaw & Mary Ellen Hollinger a A Queen Contest for the Rodeo Club will present along with bronc riding events. It will be held at the college rodeo arena by the trailers. Dixie College will host a Regional Rodeo on November 20 & 21 at 7:30 P.M. in the Lions Sun Bowl. Teams from Utah State B.Y.U., Weber, University, Ricks, Idaho State, Boise.. College will compete for trophies and the right to enter the N.I.R.A finals which will be held in Missoula, Montana. There will be over 70 cowboys and cowgirls competing. Dixie boasts with a good strong tram of boys and girls who have been practicing in preparation for their exciting big event. Kay Bundy of St. George will produce the rodeo. Clayton Atkin and Dean Gardener will be arena directors, Truman Bowler; announcer, Kelton Hafen and Marvin Jones will handle the stock, Connie Bowler; shoot boss, Howard Grey Wilkin and Drake; Judges. Many others from the Lions Club and the community will help so everyone can be assured of a good fast moving rodeo. According to the count there were 104 donors. It girls seems, however, that have more courage than boys. Greeting each person who calls our College, and cheerfully helping each one of us here on campus as we place our calls each day. When we are disgruntled, her encouraging voice and helpful attitude helps us to take a better outlook on life. Also, she greatly appreciates our patience with her, when lines are busy or messages get mixed up. This is not an easy job, in fact it is a very demanding job - requiring a great deal of patience, thoughtfulness and empathy for all - while going the Second Mile. ..For the good of Dixie College. Fireside Held Sunday night October 25, 1970 at the East Stake Center, the L.D.S.S.A. sponsored an all Church Fireside. The guest speaker was Brother Ray H. Cleave. Brother Cleave comes from Brigham Young University and is on the Institute of Religion faculty. He spoke on the happiness that comes from being emerged in activities and worthwhile projects, and that we cannot possess happiness unless we pay for it first. He unless we pay for it first. He also told those present that we are that we might have joy. These firesides, which are held monthly, are opened to all interested students and members of the community.
