In addition to having excellent physical facilities for housekeeping, study, and recreation, the girls have helped formulate rules and regulations which makes it possible for them to live together in a pleasant organized, and challenging atmosphere, enabling them to get the most out of their years at our school. The Dixiana is not, however, unit. The very nature of the romantic and social relationships of young people results in it being a meeting place between the residents and interested young men. Anticipating this situation a large visiting room, a game room, and public rest rooms were designed and appropriately furnished. On special occasions, and only then and by invitation, fellows may have dinner with the girls in their apartments. On all other occasions these areas are off limits to visitors, and should be considered in the same category as a girls bedroom in her own home, and be accorded the same privileges of privacy. Everyone should understand completely the purposes of the semipublic facilities on the main floor. They are intended to be places where the residents may meet and entertain their friends, not a place where outsiders with nothing else to do can gather to entertain themselves. Fellows and girls who come with the proper respect for the Dixiana to visit the girls there or to get acquainted in a spirit of wholesome friendliness are always welcomed and their presence enjoyed. It can probably be best compared to the living room in some home where you always felt welcome, but also respected as belonging to friends who had invited you to be their guests. When visitors a n. Miss Marilee Beard of St. George has been selected as coed of the month for December on the Dixie college campus. Miss Beard, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph O. Beard, was selected because of the work she has done in assemblies and dances. She has been commissioner of amusements for two years, chairman of Homecoming dance, worked on annual staff for three years, helped on junior prom committee, and worked diligently on the musical productions of Oklahoma and Brigadoon. She is very active in the field of art and always works toward the goal of perfection. Besides being active in the school, she still finds time to help out her church and community. She deserves a special thank you for outstanding work she has done and is doing. behind-the-scen- Flyers End Grid Warfare To Start Cage Season Dixie, as you all know, won the state championship in football by downing Millard 26 to 13. Chosen as by either one or both teams were Richard of the Hafen, Karl Blake, Arlyn Hafen, George Andrus, and Randy Ence. These boys along with the rest of the team certainly deserve the laurels heaped upon them; they gave their best all year long. The returnees are: Karl Blake, 6 ft., forward; George Andrus, .6 ft., 2 in., center; Richard and Arlyn Hafen, a pair of smooth guards; Dave Emery, Jack Tobler, and John Jennings. Newcomers are Harris Smith, 6 ft., 4 in., forward; Durant McArthur, Jeff Holland, John Phoenix, George and Bruce Wallis. This years crop of Flyers is a tall, speedy, and accurate enough team to compile an enviable record.
