Show VOLUME IV MAY TUESDAY, Student's Contribution 3, 1955 NUMBER 13 Mode! U. N. Delegation Aids Fund Drive For Women's Residence Hail The fund drive for a womens: residence hall at Dixie college was aided this week by a $50 contribution by David Shakespeare, sophomore student at the school. The drive to raise $40,000 toward the building is being supported by the chamber of commerce, by civic clubs, and by contributions from local citizens, Dixie alumni, and Dixie students. The need for. adequate housing facilities for girl students at the school has been critical for some time. To meet the keen competition of other schools that have supervised housing facilities for men and women, it is imperative that this project be supported. Without such facilities the continued existence of the school will be placed in jeopardy. With the passage of senate hill 127 it is now possible for the state board of education to issue revenue bonds that will provide the additional money necessary for the completion of this unit. Once the goal of $40,000 is reached construction will begin immediately on the unit. Plans for the building were completed several years ago by Robert Gardner. Footings have already been poured at the site of building at 150 East 100 South. It is hoped that the people of this community will emulate the loyalty and farsightedness displayed by David in supporting this drive and investing in the future of Dixie college.
