Show VOLUME I. FEBRUARY 35, NUMBER 4. I9J6. Left to right, standing: Chester Snow (Cheer Master), Leland Hafen (Athletic Manager), Robert Miles (Asst, f Attorney), Arthur Paxman (Chief of Police). Left to right, sitting: Rachel Moody (Editor), David Woodbury (Debating Manager), Stirling Russell (Commissioner of Finance), Hubert Macfarlane (President), Lydia Hopkins (Commissioner of Amusements), Donald Pymm (Prosecuting Attorney), Milton Moody (Judge). Student Officers As the gods of old on Olympus bold Assembled to ponder oer The trouble and woe of the world below By the old Agean shore, So these modern gods on Dixies clods Assembled to work and strive; So Dixie could grow in sun or snow, They seek to make no waste. And live, and prosper, and thrive. We see them here, some grim some cheer; Yet each with lofty mien: Not with hoary locks nor filmy frocks, But with eyes both kind and keen. Of nectar sweet and honeyed meat They think not nor they taste; But of golden hours and latent powers We tremble not at their spoken thought, As did men in days gone by; But we respect the fame and love the name Of all both bold and shy. We bow not down as to a crown As we greet them with a nod: But without them here we sorely fear Our school would be a plod. |
