father son and brother he passed away suddenly of a heart attack on February 25 2004 Klaus immigrated to the United States on June 5 1 951 along with his parents and brother and sisters Shortly thereafter he was drafted into the US Army and sent back to Germany where he was fortunate to play in the 7th Army Orchestra and participate in the Special Services Ski Team In 1962 he married Bernice Swenson in the Logan Temple and together they had seven wonderful children Klaus graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor and Master's degree in electrical engineering He worked many years for Utah Power and Light from which he retired in 1 988 He served in the ia Mission 1956-195- 9 Klaus and his wife Bernice served at the Swiss For many Temple from 1998-199- 9 years he served faithfully in the Salt Lake Temple Klaus was a faithful son of his Heavenly Father He loved the Lord and he loved his family These were the most important things in his life Klaus was a talented Februar) '29 200-- 1 0 N :' it IL UTAH - Our beloved father and grandfather Alten Christensen 97 of Richfield Utah passed away February 25 2004 in Richfield He was born to Heber C and Annie RICHFIELD Peterson Christensen on August 13 1906 His was a life of challenges and fulfillment His mother died when he was eight years old and his father two years later A loving maternal grandmother kept the family together While growing up Alten learned to work in the beet and hay fields of Richfield He served a three year mission in New Zealand where he taught school at the church sponsored Mood Agricultural College Returning from his mission he joined with his brothers and sister in the retail business "Christensen's" He was actively involved in the business until his passing He married Alta Wintch August 28 1939 in the Monti IDS Temple She came from Monti to Richfield to teach school They were blessed with six children During his life Allen was involved in church and community His service church assignments included: Sunday school teacher high councilor Bishop Stake Presidency quorum president for 21 years Regional Representative Richfield Welfare Region Chairman Stake Patriarch and life time home teacher In the community he has served on the School Board Chamber of Commerce bank director hospital board member and District Scout He was privileged to Committee speak at 136 funeral services for friends and associates While involved in this service Alten helped to make a number of projects In 1950 he obtained successful permission from the First Presidency to place copies of the Book of Mormon in Richfield motels This later became a He started the church wide project Book of Mormon Family to Family Program in his Stake during which thousands of copies of the Book of Mormon were sent to missionaries In addition Alten has been responsible for the distribution of tens of thousands of Books of Mormon throughout the world In 1973 Alten obtained permission to conduct a Sunday Service at the local jail He did this weekly for ten years this Sunday service continues today He has helped to support scores of missionaries over the years For the past 15 years Al-thas attended the Temple every Tuesday with a group of dear friends In recognition of his church and community service he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters by Snow College a Service Medallion award by Southern Utah State College an LDS Manhood Award top honors from the Elks Lodge Second Miler award from scouting Rotary Club award for service and with his wife Alto the President Kimball's lamanite Award Above all Alten loved his companion and his family He has often said that the wisest and most important thing he ever did was to convince a young lady by the name of Alto Wintch that she should marry him and although it took four years had it taken forty it would have been worth it She preceded him in death May 10 1985 Alten was a wonderful father and Is survived career in the office of Frank Bain who designed the Social Security System during the administration of President Franklin D Roosevelt When her husband finished a graduate degree in Business at the University of Chicago she preferred to retire from her work in order to return to Utah and begin a family Virginia and Angus made a life for themselves in Provo where they raised three children — Angus Robert Stephen Philip and Julia Virginia Angus became the Human Relations director at Geneva Steel while Virginia cared for the family taught Sunday school in the Presbyterian Church and became active in Beta Sorosus Women's Club All her life she stayed abreast of and kept a politics read avidly beautiful garden of roses She and lived Angus frugally carefully saving and investing their money so as to support their children and grandchildren in times of need To her the greatest achievement of her life was simply being able to provide for her family After Angus' death In 1989 she remained a 't N N''''' 4011( Haskins age 60 of Murray passed away peacefully ThurFebruary 26 2004 after his year long battle with Multiple MyeBill Utah sday lama He was always happy and never lost his zest for life He was a great example and mentor for everyone who knew him Bill was the son of Fred and Ruby Haskins He was born November 2 1943 in Salt Lake City Utah He married Janet Lomax later divorced They had three children Stephanie Me(Stu) Buehner David (Monicca) gan (Kory) Snider On June 14 1994 he married Kristy and her children Lyndi (Don) be !nap Kasidy (Nate) Evans Jeremiah (Tani Ile) Averett and Jam (Amanda) Averett Bill had a special place in his heart for his Tanner (the hunter) grandchildren Sadee (the nurse) Ambria and little Jacob William Bill had the time of his life last summer going fishing every week with Dave He always looked forward to the hunting and camping trips in the trailer at the Fillmore KOA with all the family and Keith and Nancy He was a reserve Deputy Sheriff for Salt Lake County from 1 969 to 1990 when his dream was fulfilled and he became a full time deputy Bill is survived by his loving wife Kristy all seven kids eight grandchil- dren his mother Ruby Haskins He is preceded in death by his father Fred Haskins He wanted to leave a special Thank You to Kent and Linda Mackay for all of their help and support and all of the staff at Dr Frames Office Funeral services for Bill will be held Monday March 1 2004 at 12 noon at the Holbrook Mortuary 3251 South 2300 East where friends may call Sunday evening from 6 pm and again Monday from 1045- 11:45 am prior to the services Interment Murray City Cemetery Funeral Directors The Holbrook Jacob de Jager passed away peacefully at home on Feb 25 2004 Born in The Hague Netherlands the youngest of five children to Alexander Philippus de sger and Maria Jacoba Cornelia Scheele After World War II in 1945 he received military training in England and served for three years as a Welfare officer In the Dutch East Indies on the island of Java After his demobilization in the Netherlands in 1950 he was employed for 26 years International Electronics by Philips Company mainly in managerial positions overseas because of his foreign language abilities Jacob had a unique way of putting everyone at ease with his genuine love of people Infectious smile and sense of humor While residing with his family in Toronto Canada he was converted and baptized Into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints in May 1960 From that day until the end of his earthly lourney he served the Church diligently and with great lay in various domestic and overseas assignments 17 years of which he served as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy He also served 14 years on the National Advisory Council of the Marriott School of Management at BYU Provo Jacob Is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years Bea to whom he was sealed in the Swiss Temple in 1966 son Michael de Jager PhD (Adrienne) Provo daughter Audrey Inez de Jager Poulson (Ronald Scott) Farmington Utah and eight grand children He will be sorely missed by all who knew him well The family wishes to express great gratitude to Dr Gory Alexander Dr Howard J Wing and Dr Michael Beu1 for their excellent and loving care Funeral services will be held Mon March 1 2004 at 12! noon at the Ensign Stake Center 135 N 'A' Street Friends and family may visit Sunday evening from 6-- 8 pm at Larkin Mar260 E South emple and Mon from 10:30-11:4- 5 am prior to services at the Stake Center Interment Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery Condolences and memories may be emalled directly to the family at tulips2youmsncom See NEXT PAGE I A4k A 414—"‘ c |
