Al Dens low 49 agreed A student at Weber State University he is trading a career in corrections for one in gerontology "A lot of people are going back for retraining" Mr Dens low said "I go to the library to get my studying done With a wife and two children I'm serious" Betty Marshall says the library rooms are needed for groups such as Up with Kids a nonprofit group that teaches song dance and theater to about 300 children "I can't think of a better use for the library" she said "This ties in all sorts of literature I don't think it disrupts the library" Musicians and songsters are not the only ones facing new regulations To discourage commercial seminars the board decided all meetings must be public Admission fees cannot be solicited at the library and sessions may be prohibited when librarians determine they are planned for promotions or sales Each group applying must have someone with a library card Without special permission groups will be limited to 100 meetings a year no more than 24 in any one building Facilities can be scheduled no more than three months in advance Ms Longsworth had suggested a limit no more than 12 to a library Concepts outlined Thursday should be adopted when the board meets Sept 15 Ms said She will recommend new policies be put to work Jan 1 I 4 140 1 TKIEL-N- I 6- -0- NM "I never noticed the music or the dancers before" he said while the widely held belief that Indians are more vulnerable to alcohol abuse as the result of genetic disposition They say the problem instead may be learned behavior fueled by the prohibition against alcohol on the reservation "The researchers feel because liquor is prohibited on the reservation Navajos never learn how to drink socially but instead are forced to go into towns where they binge drink and are much more noticeable" This he says creates a distorted perception that Indians are more susceptible to alcohol abuse perform blessing ceremonies" Patients in the program are screened so only those who truly want to become sober and stay sober are admitted They stay at the treatment center for up to 34 days Mr Tatasciore says a team of researchers from the University of Rochester Rochester NY were at the clinic this summer conducting research into problems that lead to chronic alcoholism "Their assessment of the problem was novel in that they said Indians do not drink more than the general population but are more noticeable" says Mr Ta 60-cla- h Longs-wort- Krishruts to Slay Demon During Festival ofIndia FOR THE RECORD Each year Utah's Hare East-We- a Krishna community
