Show The kail WolfesAlpine Classic tourna- ments for both men's fastpitch and mens slow pitch teams began Saturday with action at both the Cottonwood and Valley complexes In the mens fastpitch segment, 16 teams from Utah, Idaho and Wyoming have been competing in round robin play with the teams divided into four groups. Group A includes Peterson Interiors of Pleasant Grove, Northern Utah Glass (Ogden), State Brass and Golden Trails of Salt Lake. Group B has Landmark Chevrolet, Stingers (American Fork), Monarch Door and Hill Air Force Base. Group C team are M&MCoors, Vaughns (Rock Springs), Moulton (OgExcavating and Coca-Col- a den). Group D has Graysons (Idaho Falls), Craig Paving (Pleasant Grove), Page Brake II and Rebels. At the epd of round robin action, the top twp teams from each group advance to a single elimination tourney while the lower two teams from each group move into another eight team single elimination event. The lower division championship game is set for 1 p.m. Monday at the Cottonwood Complex, while the upper division championship will follow at 2.30 p.m. Games began will continue Monday at 9 a m. There is no admission charge for this tournament. The mens slowpitch segment of the WolfesAlpine Classic has 16 B and 18 C&D teams entered. The Bs are divided into four groups of four for round robin action with the top two from each going into an eight-tean affair. The lower two teams will also addoublevance to an eight-teaelimination tournament. In the C and D division, the teams are broken down into six groups of three for round robin play. The nine teams with the best round robin records will move into a class C n format and the remaining nine will go into a class n D tourney. ASA officials will use results from the WolfesAlpine Classic to help determine rankings and classifications. Rankings and classifications will be revised during the season based on results. The final classifications will determine which class of postseason tournament each team will participate in.
