| Show 14A The Salt Lake Tribune Tuesday June 9 1987 r Festival screenings begin tonight The Utah Short Film and Video Festival is underway this week and screenings of entries begin Tuesday in the Salt Lake Art Center Auditorium 20 S West Temple The festival organized by the Utah Media Arts Center includes categories for commercial and industrial film and video and independent film and video The commercial and industrial works will be shown Tuesday and Wednesday Independent video en tries will be screened Thursday with independent films set for Friday All screenings begin at 8 pm Admission is $2 An awards party where winners will be announced is planned for Saturday Contact the media center for more information Festival winners will be shown June 20 and 21 at 8 pm in the art center auditorium This year's festival has been expanded to be a regional event and entries have come not only from Utah but from Idaho and Wyoming as well Some 125 films and videos have been entered in the festival Judges for the festival include Christine Panushka of the animation department of the California Institute of the Arts Michael Scroggins a video artist who also teaches at Cal Arts and Stuart Krasnow coordinating producer of the entertainment division of Cable News Network Fox expected to run with ‘Sammy’ film - HOLLYWOOD Warner Bros hopes to run with “What Makes Sam- my Run” — with Michael J Fox playing the unscrupulous young wheeler-deale- r who sprang from the pen of playwright Budd Schulberg some 40 years ago Schulberg tells me his attorneys and Warners’ lawyers “are working on the contracts now — and should have everything resolved in a matter of weeks Warners is eager to get started on the movie" Schulberg and producer Gene Kirkwood have been conferring with Fox about the project for months and though the actor has not yet signed for the project he is expected to John Avildsen is expected to direct NAUGHTY: It sounds as if Bruce Willis is generating headaches fQr more than the police and his neigh- bors who recently was arrested on charges of alleged battery (after reportedly getting into an alterration with officers who'd been called to his Willis house by neighbors complaining about loud partying at the Willis abode) is apparently allowing his ego to get in the way of his acting on his “Sunset" movie set This is the word I get from sources on the production One notes “It's just a shame Robert Duvall didn't sign for the role — he was first choice” Another says of the "Moonlighting" actor: “It's a crying some people shame how are to handle success” Come on now — success hasn’t really changed Willis He was that way in the beginning when “Moonlighting" was new and still struggling to find an audience and he was still “Bruce Who?"
