His teacher said he’d make a good doctor because he got along well with people And it's that aspect of his job in fact that he says he enjoys the most Dr Tudor who practices in Salt Lake City has been named the physician of the year by the Utah Academy of Family Physicians He will be their nominee for consideration of a similar award from the American Academy of Family Physicians Dr Tudor’s inclinations toward medicine were furthered in high school after he studied various careers for a sophomore class project After that the only uncertainty was a speciality Initially he settled on anesthesiology But at Harvard Medical School where he earned his degree in 1964 Dr Tudor chose family practice “The specialists seemed to be so fragmented and less personal They tended to see the patient for only the part that they were interested in” Dr Tudor says of his choice Now he “does everything from deliver babies to nursing-hom- e care” He will go on an occasional house call but prefers to see patients in the office where he has access to necessary equipment In addition to his practice Dr Tudor is active in various professional organizations including the Utah State Medical Association He is a past president of the Utah Academy of Family Physicians and a delegate to the national academy Dr Tudor has some strong opinions on problems facing his profession including the growing liability threat The liability issue he says is "a bigger social problem that everyone feels they should be paid for whatever it is that happens to them" popForty years ago Americans were a publisher of Signature Books a publishing house for scholarly Mormon works The decision is tragic for all Utahns according to Mr Bergera Young leader of the Mormon Church from 1844 to 1877 also was territorial governor and Commissioner of Indian Affairs for Utah Church spokesman Jerry Cahill said it’s long been church policy that researchers may not use presidential collections until the papers have been processed and cataloged “In the past we’ve made exceptions to that rule" he said “There no longer will be any exceptions” Mr Cahill said he B-- those who go against the Lord's anointed won’t have their “baskets full" and neither they nor their children will have a right to the priesthood He said a scholar who had baited a church seminary teacher later died an untimely death In May church officials said the archive was instituting several new procedures governing access to historical materials New user requirements include signing in and out when using the facility Also researchers who wish to examine particularly rare or sensitive documents must have their request approved by a review committee Other changes include remodeling the archive reading room and the installation of a computerized circulation system and other sophisticated electronic equipment doesn’t know when the process will be completed “It appears that church employees are uncomfortable and disappointed with the direction that seems to be taken at the archives" said Daniel Rector publisher of the independent Mormon Sunstone Foundation “It remains to be seen what will happen The presidential collection seems to be a significant event but we don’t know how temporary that will be” This summer censorship fears among some researchers intensified when Mormon Apostle Boyd K Packwho also is senior adviser to the LDS History Department issued a warning aimed at scholars during a closed telecast to church seminary er and institute teachers Quoting the Doctrine and Covenants (Section 121) Elder Packer national figures the health department director stressed While Utah had 54 confirmed cases of AIDS since 1983 virtually all have been among homosexuals and intravenous drug users A few were among hemophiliacs Locally four prostitutes have tested positive for AIDS antibodies Dr Gibbons said he didn't know if they are still on the street “AH promiscuous behavior is asso g What are those
