According to forest officials, the travel plan was developed at a series of public meetings, and places forest roads and areas in four major categories. Gary Coleman, recreational staff officer, said to any kind of vehicle are the areas closed year-roun- d Lone Peak Wilderness Area, Timpanogos scenic area and most steep embankments along the Wasatch Front facing Utah Valley. A map listing the restrictions in detail has been produced by the Forest Service and is available at all Uinta Forest offices. The first designation shows areas open for vehicle travel and includes areas from paved state highways dirt roads. through canyons to The second designation is of areas open except for a seasonal closure from December 31 to May 1. The closure is for the protection of wintering big game herds. A wide corridor along scenic drives will remain open for snowmobile use in these areas. The third type of area, primarily along the Wasatch Front and adjoining Utah Valley, is closed to all motorized vehicles. Officials said the fourth designation applies to land at forest boundaries. This is open to all motorized vehicle use providing no resource damage is caused by vehicles in the area. Deputy County Attorney James Z. Davis said Wednesday. The previously unreported death happened on U.S. 89 just south of the Weber County-Bo- x Elder County line about 9 p.m. Friday. Driver of the auto, William Redfield, 63, Willard, has been charged in Pleasant View with driving under the influence of alcohol. The body of the victim, who was apparently in his 20s, was taken to the State Medical Examiners Office in Salt Lake City for an autopsy but no identity had been established as of Wednesday. Mr. Davis said officials are awaiting completion of tests before deciding if additional charges will be filed. I will say at this point that more charges are unlikely, he said.
