Show TV Today: Jim Davis More Than Star of Dallas By Harold Schindler Tribune Television Editor Jim Davis is dead. And with him went Jock Ewing, patriarch of the Texas oil dynasty which spawned the weekly cliff-hange- Dallas." For the time being the producers of the popular oiler will to have only come with to grips next sea- sons format; this years episodes already have been filmed and are not affected by the writers' strike. There is strong feeling not to cast anyone else in the Jock Ewing role, and toward that end, the producers will have to negotiate w ith the Writers Guild of America, for a waiver allowing a change in next season's scripts to write out Jim Davis if the waiver is not permitted, then the role will have to be recast. Officers Kill Special to The Tribune MURRAY Murray animal control officers have killed six dogs running in three packs that have attacked animals and humans, Ted Throckmorton, assistant animal control officer, announced Monday. Two of the dogs reportedly killed 20 sheep, 20 rabbits, several chickens, a deer and other animals on the citys west side. They were eradicated by police as part of a weekend project in the city. In another instance a nine-do- g pack on the north side of the city attacked Mr. Throckmorton as he attempted to put one of the dogs in his truck. With police assistance, four of these animals were killed. By Robert H. Woody Tribune Business Editor LONDON Utahns visiting London, including Salt Lake City Mayor Ted L. Wilson and Salt Lake area Chamber of Commerce executive Fred S. Ball, will go to Parliament Tuesday. will visit wh Minister of State Norman deputy speaker of the House of Commons, Right Honourable Bernard Weatherhill, as n the Western Airlines inaugural flight. Mayor Wilson and Mr. Ball are among a dozen Utahns, part of a contingent of about 80 or so westerners, aboard the inaugural flight which left Denver Friday night. On Monday, those not disabled by sickness visited Woburn Abbey, one of Englands most stately homes, joining the Marquess and Marchioness of Tavistock, owners of the 17th Century home, for lunch. The marquess and marchioness were a rather trim athletic couple who have a son at Harvard University. They had recently savored the American West, they said, and planned to return. Unseasonal blizzards covered much of the country, from Cornwall to the Cotswolds. London was overcast by a leaden, sullen cover of clouds. Jet lag, exhaustion and chill soon made its claim among the Utahns. Among them : the usually ebullient Fred Ball. a By Monday morning, Mr. Ball was voiceless most uncommon condition for the chamber executive vice president. While the inaugural delegation of Utahns, Californians, Arizonans and Nevadans motored by Rolls Royce coach to Woburn, Mr. Ball sought rest and physicianss aid in London. The Churchill Hotels house physician turned out to be none other than Dr. Fred Ball, a well-mfortyish gentleman, who gave Mr. Ball a shot and several capsules of pencillin. Another animal was killed by owners of sheep who caught it chasing the sheep near 6400 South and 500 West. The owners of this dog live in the vicinity of 3100 West and 3100 South. FOR WHAT ITS WORTH: NBC has decided to stnng along with Hill Street Blues' for another season, and the network's brass is being quoted as saying "We are confident the series will become one of the television audience's most popular programs in its new time period (Tuesdays) this season and when it develops further next season " That is epitome of speaking with two faces. NBC has leen giv mg Hill Street" the back of its hand and the cold shoulder for weeks The network lends new meaning to benign neglect in the matter of "Hill Street" and as a matter of honest fact, it is probably a case of being more trouble to replace the program than to carry it, if the truth were known. The shows producers have been knocking themselves out trying to drum up support for the senes, and until NBC suddenly gave in, the network acted as if it could not have cared less about "Hill Streets" future. Don Spencer, county public works director, said a similar study on the Lake Valley issue was necessary in gauging the impact on the countys own tax base. Lake Valley supporters, in a letter to the commissioners, admitted the study would be expensive, but said the information would be used to educate the electorate: Commissioner Dunn' said Lake Valley City would initially contract with the county for municipal services, but added that, in time, its newly elected officials may want to modify such a relationship. police reorts Officers said the gold l f ' lfuji U' highest , , yi t .v x Afcl t j! u !'J0l I HF FfNti- r ; - v Wi WE SILL IT DO RE SCREENING Da It Now A Sava GLASS WE DO GLAZING AND REPAIRING --SmiRSK- KETCHUMS 400 So. 800 Wof 355-46- 54 Row Playing at your home. Commission Chairman William E. Dunn said the Lake Valley proponents feel that the study would clarify questions regarding the proposed citys tax base and other ramifications from incorporation. Unincorporated county voters will decide May 11, 1982, on whether to form what would be Utahs largest city, populated from areas now outside city boundaries.
