Show m11 -- i 12M Tfce Salt Lake Tribune Friday, April Michael Jacksons tour schedule should be announced next week 6, 1984 Media center extends series; Nicholson, Christie in April The Utah Media Center will extend its Night Vision weekend film series to cover three days, beginning Friday. The series will focus on films starring Jack Nicholson and Julie Christie throughout April. Showtimes for the Jack Nicholson Film Festival will be Fridays at 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m. The Julie Christie Films will be shown Saturdays at 2:30 and 9:30 p.m., and Sundays at 9:30 p.m. All films are screened in the Salt Lake Art Center Auditorium, 20 S. West Temple. Heres what is in store for the month: April 6,7,8 Five Easy Pieces, Nicholson is the budding concert pianist who gives it all up to become an oil rig roughneck. The Julie Christies character, a member of Britains 19th century aristocracy, has a love affair with a tenant farmer, played by Alan Bates. April 13,14,15 One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Nicholson won an Oscar for free-spirit- Christie plays a com- mon girl who, through charm and deceit, elevates her station in live. The actress won an Academy Award for her performance. April 20,21,22 Chinatown, Nicholson plays private eye J.J. Gittes who gets involved in a bizarre case by a femme fatale played by Faye Dunaway. (Showtime is 7 p.m. April 21 and 22.) Petulia, director Richard Lesters psychological drama, set in 60s San Francisco, has Christie as its kooky heroine. The cast includes George C. Scott, Richard Chamber-lai- n and Shirley Knight. April 27,28,29 The Passenger, Nicholson plays a television journalist on assignment in North Africa. Dont Look Now, Donald Sutherland and Christie star as parents troubled by the death of their child.
