V W I will listen to the voice of golf as the pastel warriors march across a green 'and manicured slice of heaven this weekend That means I will hear a whisper The voice of golf always sounds as it were ordering a back issue of the New Republic from an librarian Half the time in a British accent "Heres Jack, golfings Golden Bear, 'walking up the 18th fairway, the voice will tell me "Listen to the applause after a long and hard day The place is supposed to be Pebble Beach, Calif The event is supposed to lie the 82nd U S Open The wmner, to be crowned at the end of the weekend, is supposed to be the champion of the ame game that all of us play r very day on the public and private cources of the land I dont believe any of it What Is This?
