Nevertheless, it is the hasty swallower of vegetable fiber who is really the inciter of gastric gas-tric rebellion. Vegetables are, at all times, very imperfectly digested by the stomach, and require their tough fibers to be thoroughly broken up by the teeth if they are to be dissolved even in the bowel.
