Show JUDGE C. C. GOODWIN CALLED. Noted Editor Answers Summons at Age of 85. Salt Lake City Judge C. C. Goodwin, Good-win, noted editor and author, and one of the best known and most beloved men in the west, died at his home here August 25, at the age of 85. ('. C. Goodwin was born at Riga, near Rochester, in the western part of the state of New York, April 4, 1832. His boyhood days were spent on his father's farm and he received his education edu-cation in the schools of Rochester. In the early 50's Judge lioodwin came west, where he has labored ever since, as merchant, miner, lawyer, teacher and writer. In the early days in Nevada Judge Goodwin was the friend and companion of such men as Mark Twain, "Dan DeQuille" and Joseph T. Goodman. It was in Nevada Ne-vada that Judge Goodwin really began his literary career, and his later work in describing the making of the state and in depicting the characters of the men who accomplished the making achieved national renown for its literary liter-ary world. |
