17 er Contest Unlikely Although Republicans Are Tired of His Constant Opposition to Administration and Affiliation With Democratic and Progressive Forces BOISE Idaho— It 's generally conceded now by those who are familiar with political affairs in the state of Idaho that several of the larger counties will play an important part in the ticket that is nominated by the next Republican state convention for it is only In the convention of that party theie will be any contests for nominations The Democratic party will be without contests and the Progressive party will not place a ticket In the field Just what these larger counties will do is very problematical It Is said now to be more than likely that most of them will Bend untn structed delegations Into the state convention That will mean of course uncertainty as to what will be done In that convention with re pard to the more Important nominations that are to be made Ada which is tee largest county In the state and wul have the largest delegation In the state convention of the Republican party will first and foremost send to that conclave a delegation that Is primarily interested in the renomination of United States Senator W E Borah And the reason for that is that Ada is the home county of the senior senator and Boise the county seat the home city This is further augmented by the fact that the close friends and political advisers of Senator Borah know that it is his wish that an outstanding delegation composed of or representative of his friends be sent to the convention Not Interpreted As Fight for Borah This Is not to be Interpreted It Is pointed out that there is any contest on Senator Borah or that there is any fight being made against his renominatlon But it has been the custom when his name is to come before a convention of his party to have the delegation from his home county outstandingly for him On this delegation must be a man qualified to properly place the senior senator in nomination Who that man will be has not been definitely determined but that he will be an outstanding Republican leader goes without Raying With the object in view of carrying out the wishes of Senator Borah there was perfected in Boise during the past week a movement bringing into existence an organization independent Of the ambitions of any of the three candidates for the Republican gubernatorial nomination — John McMurray State Treasurer Byron Defenbach or Attorney General W D Gillis— all of whom would of course like to have the delegates from Ada county pledged to them for governor The attitude of the Borah organization Is not antagonistic to any of the candidates for governor nor is it drawing lines on any of them As a matter of fact the friends of all three gubernatorial candidates are incorporated in the Borah movement — but hey are putting the interest of Sen ed P-- A INSTALLS T BOISE WOMAN BOISE Idaho (47-- Mrs Thomas Ogden of Boise was installed Saturday as president of the Idaho ConAssociations gress of Parent-Teachat the closing session of the three-da- y ator Borah first and ahead of their respective preferences for governor With tins common idea in view there is being perfected a strong organization it is claimed one that is very likely to be in control of the next Ada county delegate conven tion and direct its affairs Those backing the movement say that while it is common agreement that the nomination and the election of Senator Borah is conclusive and all factionalism has for some time been completely and it is believed it is still permanently submerged known to be true that there are those are who active politicially in this state who are not now and never have been friends of the senior senator but have on the other hand belittled him on every possible oc casion that they would if the op portunity offered itself openly show that opiiosltion and unfriendliness in a state nominating convention Needless to say point out party leaders Senator Borah is aware of this situation and naturally would be concerned sufficiently to have sent to the state convention those who are his real friends within his own party The disposition will be say those who are organizing this movement for gubernatorial candidates to give way to it and not attempt to stage a contest in the home county of the senior senator that will In any way Interfere with the plans to send such a friendly delegation into the state These cannominating convention didates are being contacted with relation to this situation and the rebeen very sponse is said to ha-vsatisfactory to both sides It is not anticipated that there will be any tsbuble In this regard It Is said There was considerable surprise both in Ada county and generally in the state over the statement Issued by Donald Callahan of Wallace state senator from Shoshone county answeiing the charge of Ray state chairman of the Progressive party that the antiprohibl-tio- n movement was a challenge to Senator Borah ridiculing the senior senator Callahan first denied that the antiprohibition movement had any political significance with regard Later he to himself personally struck directly at Idaho’s senior senator and many Republicans believe quite unnnecessarily but apparently reflecting his own personal feelings with regard to Borah when he said "Even if I were politicially Inclined or had a desire to succeed Senator Borah I am not fool enough to believe that any man In Idaho can defeat the senator this year politicians will with loud mouths declare their loyalty to the International statesman from Boise and will pledge undying allegiance to the Borah cult but there really is nothing to get excited about Almost anything however serves as an excuse for a Borah fan to get Into print The state convention will meet In Idaho Falls will pass resolutions approving the great accom- e Mc-Ka- ig Self-seeki- OFFICERS SAY Overalls Card Found in Boxcar at Ashton Lead to
