Show JOSEPH A VANCE DIES SUDDENLY with a suddenness that was stunning the angel ot of death entered the home ot of joseph A vance tuesday morning and claimed the husband and father sir air vance was war brought in from his ranch ot park valley the evening before in a state late r 0 of unconsciousness having been in that condition since nine monday morning and lie he uever regained consciousness but passed peacefully away at 12 on tuesday tile the word was passed around tuesday morning that mr air vance was in a precarious condition and many friends called at the home to render assistance everything known to medical science was dono done tor for him but the physicians held out little hope when lie he was brought homo home as his case was diagnosed as acute wrights disease every hour during monday on the way home from park valley he had a convulsion and after arriving here that condition was relieved and he had no more convulsions but the disease had fastened itself upon him seemingly with a determination to claim his life which ft did for several severa years past mr vanes vance suffered with terrible headache but thought the trouble came front from his bis eyes on sunday last another spell came on and lie he was about wild with pain ills his condition became so serious that some alardi was felt by his brother and sons who were ere with him and when he lapsed into unconsciousness they prepared a conveyance and rushed him to kelton in time to catch the train back for this city on monday arriving here in the evening mr air vance was in brigham to attend the recent quarterly conference apparently enjoying the best of health and very few or of his friends knew that he be had any atly bodily ailments whatever but members of his family state that be has suffered with head ache for a i ji number limber of years and the physicians 0 o t kajs troubles ulca diw slowly ven been developing develop flig his sudden passing has shocked the entire the community and universal sympathy go goes elout out to mrs vance and her seven children joseph A vance was born at alpine f utah county sept he acquired an education as he grew in years in the district schools and later finished off at tac B Y academy at ars provo vo in 1889 he be came to brigham city to preside over the dox bos elder stake academy as principal and for a number number of years filled that position with honor in 1890 1990 lie be was married to miss emma yearsley of this city cudby that union eight children have been born are re all living but one and they are sill MI bos bole but one when the academy was discontinued mr vanco vance taught in the district schools of the county and in 1893 was elected county superintendent of schools ile he served in that position ono one term and later when supt bupt nephi anderson relinquished that position to go abroad on a mission mie sion mr vance was appointed to 1111 the torra term since that time he has taught school in various parts of 0 the county until 1908 when he be departed for great britian to till fill his second mission returning home in the autumn of 1910 in an ecclesiastical way mr air vance held many positions of trust and lionor honor lie was nas perhaps one ot of the best bible students itu denta in this community and wag vas also well read in hurch church history lie ile served as a member of the presidency of the quorum of seventy and was a member of the stake religion class board these positions he was released from when he be and hla his family faintly removed to park valley early last spring to locate on a farm and during the summer they have made their home in that community mrs airs I 1 vance rance and the smaller children having baying returned to brigham but a couple ot of weeks ago in order that the little folks might begin school it was the intention of mr vance and his other sons to return to brigham last tuesday for the winter since his residence in brigham city he has been identified with the growth and development of the community ard was always working la in the church organizations in one capacity of another beside hla his wife and seven children bb leaves an aged mother and several brothers and alatas stas sl al soon after his coming to brigham and his bis marriage ile ho was waa called upon to part with a younger brother who was hero here teaching bol and who died at his home in this thia city mr vance was a man who was very conservative in his bis views and sets acts ile he always thought a thing over atell ell before making a decision and because of his careful life never made enemies kind and gentle of spirit his ambition was to do good to everybody and he was true to his convictions family and mends friends funeral services were to have been held this afternoon but on account of the impossibility of his eldest son being able to get hi hs hie h e s from park valley before this evening even lnE the services were postponed until tomorrow at 2 p m in tho the third ward chapel the r remains may be viewed at the family residence on first west street between forest and first north president C W penrose and apostle jos E tilmage talmage are
