Fourteen Troop Trains and All the Equipment of the Villa Army Which Fought at Monterey Captured Cap-tured Following Fierce Battle. Washington. The Carranza agency issued a bulletin Sunday claiming a victory over General Villa's forces near Monterey, in which Villa is reported re-ported to have lost over 2,000 killed, wounded and prisoners. This bulletin seems to contradict the statement given out by the Villa agency, in which it was stated that the Villistas defeated General Obre-gon's Obre-gon's forces overwhelmingly at Ce-laya Ce-laya and drove them back to Mexico City. This latest bulletin from Vera Cruz, however, states circumstantially that the Carranzistas, besides inflicting the great loss in killed and wounded, captured cap-tured fourteen troop trains and all the equipment of the Villa army which fought at Monterey. It is also stated that following the fall of that city, the Villista generals, Perriera and Car-rera Car-rera Tores, were captured in Paredon and shot. The Carranza agency claims that the city of Durango was captured by the constitutionalists on Tuesday and that 500 men have been sent from Nuevo Laredo to reinforce Monterey. Carranza announces that communication communi-cation between Monterey and Vera Cruz will be established within a week. |
