Decision on Wexpro Issue Due Today r.iui Tribune Stuff Writer Ten months gfUr Mountain Fuel Supply Co formed its oil well holding subsidiary, Wexpro Co the Utah Public Service Commission Friday will dot ide what kind of a relationship betwi on Mountain Fuel and Wexpro is prop r Fnduv at 1 p m , the three member commission is st heduled to announce its decision on one of the most controversial decisions to face that body in years Indications last Thursday were that the rommis sionors were nearly as far apart on the Wexpro matter as they have ever tieen Strong Dissent Possible nd it is almost certain that any decision will been a 2 1 vote, with a strong dissent Bv Commissioners will probably still be arguing the issue right up to the 1pm announcement A special month long bearing on Wexpro was roncludc-before the PSC earlier this month Commission Chairman Milly O Bernard originally had bald the commission would have a decision three days after the conclusion of the hearing But the hearing became so extensive and comolex that she had to amend that forecast Hurts Investments Mountain Fuel has contended all along that the Wexpro matter needs to be cleared up as soon as possible because potential investors are reluctant to pump money into a company w'lth such a regulatory cloud over its head But rather than settling the issue once and for all. Pillow Palace announces the opening of our Grand Opening NEW STORE AT 1223 SIMPSON AVE. SUGAR HOUSE (In SALE ENDS MONDAY NIGHT the Skeggs Shopping Center) We are celebrating our Grand Opening with STOREWIDE PRICE REDUCTIONS at both our Salt Lake and Ogden Store PILLOW PALACE T he Division of Public Utilities and some members of the Utah Attorney Generals Office have been the primary adversaries of Mountain Fuel in the Wexpro hearing Both sides have indicated they will appeal to the Utah Supreme Court if they are unsatisfied with the commissions decision And some participants have said they will try to go all the way to the United States Supreme Court Unique Agreement While that is a common threat in legal controversies, in this case it is possible because the Mountain Fuel Wexpro relationship is unlike any other operating agreement between two fuel companies in the country Currently, Mountain Fuel and Wexpro have a joint exploration agreement in with both parties contribute $3 1 million annually for operating expenses When Wexpro was formed last December, Mountain Fuel transferred more than $200 million worth of assets to the subsidiary Adversaries in the case claim the rate-paye-r paid for the development of those assets and to have them transferred out of the utilitys rate base is unfair to the natural gas ratepayer consumer Mountain Fuel contends that it needs to keep separate accounts for its gas and oil assets because the investor will stay away if the oil assets are subject to state regulation TypM WATER BEDS Atyl Mix Safety and Fun, Unique Furniture FAT CATS Bean Bag Chairs Lush, soft, thick cushions of Pouf Pillow Furniture shredded foam Inside Halloween Theme SOFA OGDEN -- 2258 Washington CHAIR 220 Reg. $260 110 Reg. $130 1223 SIMPSON AVE., SUGAR HOUSE Blvd 392-67- BETWEEN IN TKE SKAOOS SHOPPING HIGHLAND I3TH EAST CENTER Mixing safety with Halloween fun has been the theme for about 25,000 students in Granite School i Districts kinder- through fourth garten grades.
