Show MRS. S. V. ACORO IS STRICKEN BY DEATH i i Death stalked Into Castledale all un-xpectcdly un-xpectcdly Monday afternoon and took from this sphere of activity another useful life when Mrs. S. V. Acord suc-oombed suc-oombed to an attack of heart trouble. She was taken seriously 111 on Saturday, Satur-day, but, even then, the word of her untimely demise came as a severe shock to the people of the town and friends of the family throughout the county. The end came so quick, in fact that it was impossible for the two older daughters (Miss Hazel, who Is teaching school in Salt Lake, and ll'.ss Alta, who is attending the U. of U.) to reach here until the day before : the funeral. i A particularly unfortunate feature was the fact that Miss Vera, the youngest daughter, was confined to her bed, recovering from a throat operation, op-eration, at the time of her mother's dt-ath. Funeral services were held Wednes- ! day afternoon In the ward house, attended at-tended by a large number of sympathizing sympa-thizing friends. Bishop S. H. Larsen presided at the services and President ! Lars P. Oveson offered the invocation. ! Elders J. Frank Killian of Orange- I ville. and O. J. Anderson of Castledale, both offered words of commendation i for hte useful life of the deceased and j words of hope and encouragement for ! the bereaved family together with the ! parents and brothers and sisters of the deceased. The choir rendered several beautiful beauti-ful selections and two duet numbers were rendered by Samuel Zwahlen and Miss Pearl Richardson of Ferron. The benediction was pronounced bv Elder B. W. Dalton. Resolutions of respect for the good work of the deceased in the Y. L. M. I. A. were read by Mrs. S. B. Bunnell, and Principal A. L. Beeley of the E. S. A., read resolutions adopted by the school, Vera, the youngest daughter, beine a student of that institution. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful and testified vividly to the respect of friends. Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Acord wos born at Draper, Utah, Oct, 29, 1869. and moved to Glenwood, Sevier county, in 18S3. She was married to Samuel V. Acord Jan. 28, 1890, and is the mother of eight children, seven of whom are living. The deceased labored faithfully in the Mutual cause, having been first counselor to Pres. Zina Peterson, and later president of the local association. She has also labored in the Relief so-city, so-city, havingbeen an active ward teacher teach-er up to the time of her death. .The following children survive the deceased: Earl, Hazel, Van, Alta, Vera, Ross, and Duane. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howell Johnson of Glenwood, Glen-wood, a brother Jim Johnson, also of Glenwood, and a sister Mrs. Zoe Ence of Richfield, all of whom were in at-. at-. tendance at the funeral, also survive her. |
