Show convention TODAY the republican judicial Cori convention vent lon ot of the first firs t judicial district met this chrs morning in the court room of the county court house in this city and placed in nomination candidates for the judge and district attorneys bip alryc hoist ot of this city was made chairman of the convention with farrel johnson of logan secretary the full delegation from the three counties not being present a motion passed giving each county its ull full voting strength the aasc absent nt i otes being pro rated to the candidates the nominees tor for judge were attorney J C walters and attorney D R roberts ot of logan the latter having but recently returned from washington where chero lie graduated with high honors from the law school the voting strength of the convention was 83 85 and on the first ballot the result was as follows box elder walters 25 roberts roberta 3 cache walters 45 roberts 7 rich walters 0 5 a total of 75 for walters and 10 tor for rob orts erts when the result was announced mr air roberts roberta secured the floor and stated staled that ho be was first and last a republican and accepted his defeat gracefully believed in republican majorities and tn in the voice of the majority also believed in life tenure for judges and should mr air walters prove a satis MO judge a thing he was positive of he be roberts roberta would never perhaps permit his name to go up for that position again lie ile made a motion that the nomination of 0 mr walters be made unanimous that the convention pledge itself to go out and work ork for his election 7 which was carried with a whoop mr air 11 II S larsen of this city placed in nomination attorney 13 C call to succeed himself as a district attorney which was seconded by attorney nets jenson who also moved that rules rulea be suspended and mr air call be named by was atso done and afia i the convention adjourned |
