West Temple, are still weighing reopening in wake of two fires in April, Eric Stilson, vice president-marketing in Salt Lake City, said Friday. Tiffanys is owned by Dinner Theatres, Inc., Kansas City. The firm had planned reopening some time in June, but reconsidered that decision Thursday when it was learned that arson had caused the second of two fires that occurred within a week in late April. Founders Dick Carrothers and Dennis Hennessy will continue talks with the Dinner Theatre, Inc., board over the weekend, Mr. Stilson said. Apply for Refunds In the meantime, persons who bought advance tickets who do not' want to wait out a decision on opening or closing, should send their reservation confirmation cards to Tiffanys Attic Theatre at the Salt Lake address for refunds, he said. Tiffanys was one of two dinner both of theaters in Salt Lake City and which which opened a year ago are now closed. Gaslight Dinner Theatre, 826 S. Main, announced its closing last Saturday, saying that its costs exceeded its patronage income. Freeze Bank Accounts A spokesman said the owners had frozen their local bank accounts to tally assets so that what remained could be distributed among various suppliers and advance ticket purchasers. In the meantime, Salt Lake County - tax authorities filed a notice of seizure on its furniture and fixtures, alleging nonpayment of property taxes totaling $1,278.05. w i I problems of the rest of the world to go away, the former official said Dr. Ellis L. Armstrong, who is currently an engineering consultant and adjunct professor at the University of Utah, remarked on energy problem during a luncheon meeting of the Higher Education, Government, Research and Industry Committee on the IJ.ofU campus Crisis Evident Dr. Armstrong said the emergence ol a world energy crisis became evident before the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973 as data to that effect was presented at World Energy Conferences he attended. We must face up to the fact that we are experiencing an energy shortage and we must realize the interdependence between nations of the world in searching for the best solutions, Dr. Armstrong said. We do have the basic resources and technology to solve most of the problems of the w'orld, he added. But there is a desperate need for engineec s and technical managers to educate the public about the need to utilize the resources and technology. Otherwise, the tunnel vision . . radicals are going to Pied Piper the human race over the cliff of destruction. he said Develop Sources Dr Armstrong said the world must recognize the need to develop new energy sources as well as the need to decrease population growth President Carter's energy conservation proposal is a good one. We need to take the steps he has outlined But it hasnt gone far enough We also need a comprehensive piogram in the area of development of new energy "You cant conserve something you don't have, Dr Armstrong said. lie said the developing nations comprise half the worlds population, and t the jear 2020 those nations will of the world's account for population two-thir- Cant Be Ignored' "Those six billion people can't be ignored, he warned, pointing out that the United States uses 55 million barrels of oil a day while the developing nations currently use about 3 million barrels a day. He said coal accounted for about half of the worlds energy source 20 jears ago and while the same amount of coal is being used, it now accounts for only of the energy source. one-fourt- h Ih-- i li m investment, like hie insmaiu e They're not savers, except those kinds of benefits they (an get tomorrow 'I want to go to Asien m tin ee months, so I'll put some money avvav so I ( an take the bus out there ' "Theyie into sense They're into sensation I suspect certain kinds ol movies might appeal to them as well " they 111x1- least ha at a lull- Beat li Them?
