Show TOWNS OF COUNTY UNITED FOR SAMPtTE-EMERlT ROAD If goo J hard work on the part of a handful of loyal boosters can get a road ! connecting Emery and Sanpete counties we will have that road about as quickly as the state road commission can give j it to us. ; Last week, and this week, too, the joint committee appointed by Orangeville and Castledale, with C. E. Laisen as chairman and Len Hunting- ; ton as secretary, has been making every effort to set the towns of tne county united in favor of a road connecting the two counties, with the result that every community that has been visited expresses ex-presses the desire for a road connecting SanpeLe ana E.nery counties, and only one town feels that it dare not leave the selecting of the route to the members of tne stale road commission tne body Oi men who have all the data necessary and whose business it is to select roads, and whose action, in selecting the route, whichever may be chosen, will, it is felt, be for the general good of our county. As mentioned in last weed's Progress, Emery town went on record in favor of such a road, and the unselfish example of the Emery people was repeated by the people of Ferron, Cleveland, Elmo, Lawrence, and Clawson at meetings held in these towns last Tnursday, with the result that all the towns most concerned con-cerned now present a united iroi t ior an inter-county road with oi.ly the one town of the number attempting to dictate to the road commission as to the route to be selected, though some have expressed express-ed a preference for the central route as first ciioice. Tne joint commutes split delegations for lost Thursday's campaign, part going to Ferron and Clawson and part to Cleveland, Elmo, and Lawrence. It took some seven cars to accomodate the delegations to the different towns. TneCiawson meeting was held at 3 o clock with nearly every man present. Wm. Hitchcock was chosen chairman of this meeting and V.cior Barney, secretary. An excellent spirit of cooperation co-operation and fairness was found here which .was much appreciated by the delegations. The Ferron mee ing was held at 7 :S0, attended by a fair representation of Ferron people. A little opposition developed here on accoun. of misunderstanding misunder-standing but things were soon explained and a motion asking for a toad connecting connect-ing the two counties was carried in great shape. Joseph Hansen was appointed ap-pointed chairman here and Nels J. Christensen, secretary. Some interviewing inter-viewing was done in Molen by a part of the delegation, but no meeting was appointed ap-pointed for that day. A meeting will be held there at 7:30 tonight, however. The delegation which went north . visited Lawrence and planned a meeting meet-ing for Thursday evening and then went on to Cleveland where part remained for that meetiug while the rest went on to Elmo. At Cleveland, the spirit manifested w-s unanimous for a road connecting the two valleys and a good representation representa-tion was present. Wm. McFarlane was chosen chairman and Jed Knight, secretary, of this meeting. The meeting meet-ing at Elmo was held at the same time a- the Cleveland meeting the delegation being again split for this purpose. Here alsj a good spirit was manifested, the body going on record in favor of a road connecting the two counties. J.F. Oliver was chairman and Hans F. Mort-ensen, Mort-ensen, secretary, of this meeting.
