Show THE NEW LIQUOR LAW The liquor law recently enacted in this state and now in force, reads in part as follows. This law will be superseded on August 1st, by the statewide sta-tewide "bone-dry" law. Sec. 1. It shall be unlawful for any perr.oR to carry, transport or haul any intoxicating liquors into dry territory in this siate; provided, that the terms of this Section shall not apply to any sales of such liquors to a licensed pharmacist or druggist Or scientific and manufacturing institution in the ordinary course of trade, or to sales of aleohed for scientific or manufacturing manufac-turing purposes by wholesale druggists or to a quantity of such liquors not to exceed sixteen ounces for personal per-sonal use of the party so carrying. If any peace officer shall have probable prob-able cause to believe any person in dry territory has on or about his person, per-son, in any kind of receptacle or in any vehicle under his control, intoxi cating liquors in excess of sixteen ounces, for the purpose of violating this Section,' such peace officer shall have authority to examine such vehicle ve-hicle and receptacle and the contents thereof, and the finding of any intoxicating intoxi-cating liquors in the possession of any such person, or under his control, in any quantity in excess of sixteen ounces, shall be prima-facie evidence that such liquors were being carried unlawfully, and such person shall be forthwith arrested and such liquors eized and held by such officer. Upon conviction of any person for violating of any provisions of this Sections, such person shall be punished by a fine of not more than $299.00 or by imprisonment imprison-ment for not more than six months r by both such fine and imprisonment; imprison-ment; and such liquors shall be declared de-clared forfeited by the court and 'hall be publicly destroyed by such officer as the court may designate. |
