| Show The Salt Lake Tribune Monday February 27 1989 A7 The artistic mockery of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo By Scott Rivers Tribune Staff Writer Balletic dementia unfolded Saturday night at the Capitol Theatre as Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo made its umpteenth Salt Lake City appearance In many ways the Trocks are the "Rocky Horror" of ballet immersed in their own comed-i- c "Time Warp" rable surrealism in Us mixing of various balletic styles and periods — anachronisms emerged in a mire of unreality The piece was gloriously nonsensical and Mike Gonzales' colorfully flamboyant costumes no doubt would have made Liberace proud The Trocks' artistic mockery was in fact their art the ballerinas spin like a top and as such fall down Though "In Kazmidity" was a hilar Dance review Capitol Theatre's large cult following proved undiminished as the troupe threw all coherency to the winds with a selection of satirical ballet jibes It was outrageous silliness on a lavish scale The Trocks' performance began with "In Kazmidity" an original work by Ann Marie D'Angelo set in the feminist kingdom of Kazmidity As explained in the program notes it is a locale "inhabited by the souls of unfulfilled ballerinas When these spirits are crossed with the firefly the resulting mutant is a Kazmite" So much for the storyline "In Kazmidity" displayed an admi- - TERMS a - SALE -- NOW 128800 1 I f" New Consoles from rsN ifTf PyerebyGraD fromWooi all-ma- f-f- I -- fefS55Ei iyfe!
