Show i OUR ALMA MATER FUTURE I We have toasted those who are living, j We have done honor to those who are dead, But for those who will be in the future Nothing, as yet, has been said. We talk of the"has-beens" and "once-wasers" "once-wasers" And those who are now in the play, But our faith, our hope, and our promise prom-ise Are in the man of the future nay. We shll always look back to the father And honor the works he begun, But for finish, polish and greatness We must ever look to the son. As the seed is lost in the growing 'And the tree extends its broad shade, And music is heard in its branches, And a shelter for rnortals is made So the past will merge into the future In the growth of this great school of ours; We shall lose sight of the seeds and rootlets As we look at its beautiful flowers. When its fruits are all lucious and golden gold-en And they nourish the children of men, The youth will flock up to our standard, Old friends will return to us then. Your present is glorious, teachers In the past lie the germs of fame. Honored and blessed be your memory And eternally great be your name. But if I could raise the veil of the present pre-sent And bid you gaze on the future day, You would rise to a man from this banquet And shout Hurrah! for the E. S. A. SARAH OVESON |
