Show E. S. A. SUN BEGIN N 1THER YtAR'S WOFK The Emery Slake Academy soon begins be-gins another sea -on of work, and from present prospects, it is sure to b as sue -es.ful or more so than the seasons : past that have helped, to make Emery county history. No more impo.-ing sight could greet the .ye than this magnificent white brie eoi.ice, rerted on the brow of j the hill, as a j-entinel, overlooking the1 Dal . It can be seen from a distance ' of thirty miles, seeming to beckon to the youth of Castli V.ill -v to come and partake of its hospitalities. No boy or girl need longersay : "I am unlearned. " The division of E nery Stake. M i.y 8, 1910, into Carbon and Emery Stakes, necessitate i a hew h c d school board. These men are aii ve w ith interest for the advancement of education in the new stakes, an i und-r their guidance the prospects of the Academ.' will not be checked. A bright an 1 promising future is the inevitable. Peace be with the old board, they took the blunt of the erection of two buil lings. For each of them we dedicate a crown. Presilent Oveson is guarding the in- I terests of our Academy with a jealous eye. During the 1 ist school year he made regular visits to our school and i gave encouragement and support to our teachers and stu dents. He visited the recitations wh 're he breathed the inspiration of the school, then he went out anil disseminated it among his peo- : pie. All who visit us with prayerful hearts ' go away' filled with good words to cheer the youth of Zion lo come and reap with the band of learners, j "In the lexicon of youth, which Fate reserves For a bright manhood, there's noj such work as fail. " After much discussion and careful consideration by Supt. II. II. Cnmmings and our loc il sc viol b ul, a change in the length of the scool year for l'Jll-1912 l'Jll-1912 was enacted. There will be no reduction of actual j recitations or days of actual teaching j because the reduction of six weeks will ' be made up by teaching on Saturdays. The school will open October 2 ir. stead ' of Septemder 11, and will close May 3 instead of May 31. This will enable parents to plant and gather their crops while school is not in session. Therefore There-fore we make a strong appeal to parents to keep their children in school the entire school year in order that they might be promoted. j |
