Show EMERY COUNTY ALSO IN ECU CONTEST The following communication has been received from one of our foremost fore-most ranchmen, and is self explanatory. Dear Editor: I read with great interest inter-est the article on the "Egg laying Contest" Con-test" among the fowls of Salt Lake City which appeared in your issue of j March 30th. j Now Mr. Editor, we are not going to : et all the glory of our Utah fowls go to that little burg designated on the ! map as Salt Lake City. ! Emery county is quite a big field and j also produces HENS among its various I other products, and that these hens are not all cackle the following from a Barred Plymouth Rock pullet not yet twelve months old will show and make them all sit up and take notice: weight of egg 3oz. 9 dwt. troy, greatest circumference circum-ference 7 i in. Smallest circumference 6J in. You will note the measurements are not as great as the E. P. Snow egg but it excells the Snow egg in weight. This is accounted for from the fact that the egg carries its thickness almost to its ends, being of a uniform thickness for almost an inch before starting the ovaL Thie egg is on exhibit at "Moore's Ranch" at Rochester, Emery county Utah. Come on, poultrymen, fall in line and beat it it you can, until you can, Emery county will claim the heaviest heavi-est known hen's egg in Utah. Yours truly, L. C. Moore. |
