Show Lake 'Iti&uafe, Wednesday. November 24, 1976 ! r n v ShirlebritW LEE MARVIN Now the Burtons Travel Light By Shirley Eder Knight News Writer TORONTO The Richard Burtons are here where Richard is making the film Equus. Susan Burton says shes deliberately staying away from all the stores here because, she said, were already traveling with 11 pieces of luggage and Richard thinks thats enough to tote round and so do I. Besides, I do ail my own packing. I dont have to, but I like to do it for us, but I wouldnt want to have to ; pack even one more bag. I remember watching the former Mrs. Richard Burton, whom you might recognize as Elizabeth Taylor, coining from abroad into their bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Every available bellman, plus some extra porters, helped carry in more than 100 pieces of luggage, plus several dogs, eats and other pets in covered cages. I also remember another time seeing the Burtons leave the hotel with the same retinue of bellmen, porters, security guards, animals, press agents, secretaries, maid, valet, etc. How lovely it must be for Richard to no longer have to schlep 100 bags and an army of people with him wherever he goes. Fifteen members of the press were invited to dine hero in Toronto with the Burtons and his Joan Plowright (Lady Olivier), Peter Firth and their director, Sidney Lumet, currently the hcttest director in the movie business. The dinner took place at Cossacks Restaurant, Torontos version of New Yorks Russian Tea Room. Iced vodka was served with a smoked sturgeon, and with each course came a different kind of wine. Everyone, except Richard, drank his fill throughout dinner. Richard, with his hand over his glass so the waiter would not fill it, said, Im not drinking anymore. I havent In A long time. Oh, I did have a few drinks when we finished The Heretic, which was 25 weeks in the making, Burton, in spite of looking a little like a defrocked priest in his black suit and black turtleneck sweater. ROGER MOORE. SHOWS TODAY m rtj .Ml ite'SL looked extremely handsome and young. As a matter of fact, my friend Gau ge Anthony of the Toronto Sun said he thought Burton looked 10 years younger than when he saw him last in Toronto in Hamlet and that was in 1963. ,, .
